Sun finally dropped behind the hill, which is helping cool things off. Not expecting anything until close to dark based on camera pics/activity recently. I did add a pin light to my bow sight in case something comes out at twilight.

Running out of light over here. Buddy of mine hunting other end of the ranch is covered up and has a younger stag in front of him. Will post pic of that shortly

Hopping in on this live thread. A sounder has been camping out every night at the cottonseed feeder for a few weeks. Maybe they learned a lesson last night.

Man that stag sure appears, in my opinion anyway, to have a lot of elk in him. His tail matching his rump patch, his mane, head shape all show signs of crossbreeding.
What's your take?

He's a mix of both. We have both running around and some are easy to tell one or the other and a few are just mutts like this guy.

Been back in the stand and my hunt is looking like the game but without the early optimism. EVERYTHING seems to be moving at night with the amount of acorns on the ground and full moon…

This guy looks way more elk to me, but has crowning on one side. He's also way taller than many of our stag.

Back in the blind - last chance before heading home. Good news is that neither of my target bucks were on camera last night and only a couple of aoudad were in at night. Hoping for some action but who knows.

4 board (40-80lbs) just came in. Light is really low and has to use my light on the pins but pretty sure I connected with good shot. Hopefully pics to follow later this morning.

Well, maybe not… they were at 22-24 yards and only have first sight at 30. I intentionally aimed slightly low (about the belly line) and must've shot right under. The arrow exploded in the ground and the front half with broad head bounced off the ground and into the pen, making me think it was a complete pass through. I got down briefly to check and found my fletchings and no blood. Getting back in stand but will confirm with more thorough search soon.


Pic from the video I was trying to take of shot and then just abandoned it because it was too much work and pigs tend to just leave without notice.
