Looking for opinions on heavy duty tilt trailers. I have a skid steer that I routinely haul on a gooseneck flatbed but my trailer is 30' long. I would like to get a shorter bumper pull trailer and the tilt trailers are intriguing because it would be nice to not have to deal with ramps.

My main concern is how well the tilt portion holds up over time. Right now, specifically looking at a Heavy Duty Big Tex model. - Thanks

I've got a 20' Ranch King that I haul a skid loader on regularly. I bought it used but the tilt is pretty simple. It just has a hydraulic cylinder that allows the fluid to cycle slowly in a closed system. I don't see anything that concerns me long term. I'm very familiar with having hydraulic cylinders rebuilt and hoses made and that's about all I see. The rest of the variables are more attributed to the manufacturer and maintenance of the trailer. I think if you went with a Big Tex, you'll be happy with it with few if any issues anytime soon.

I have a tandem dual Big Tex 20'+5' gooseneck that I've always used to move equipment. I still need that trailer for bigger things but I'm really happy with the tilt deck trailer too. It is really convenient to have for mobilizing my skid steer quickly and knocking out quick jobs. Wish I would've bought one a long time ago.

I have a Load Trail tilt. We love it. Ive hauled tractors, trucks, SUVs, boats, RVs, other trailers, zero turns etc on it.

The only thing to consider is if you do not have ramps after it tilts you cant get anything else on there. Purdy much a one piece of equipment hauler.

So there is no benefit to getting longer than you actually use.

I used a friends 26' BP tilt trailer to haul my topdrive to the ranch. Besides a valve to block equalizing fluid and some sort of lock, the bed tilted and got my truck hung up trying to get off of the trailer. That lock assembly is not very durable if you don't put the load in the best location for trailer, not for load distribution.
So I bought two dump trailers. A 14' BO dump trailer and later a 16' GN dump trailer to haul my skid steer.
I can do more with a dump but easily hauls my skid steer or excavator.

A ranch neighbor has the ranch king and I looked at it the other day.
He got it at crazy trailer world in Willis and said they have so many different brands and sizes it's hard not to find the perfect fit.
Looks like they have a good website with sale prices included.

I wanted a hydraulic tilt so I wouldn't have to mess with lifting heavy ramps. I haul my skid steer, a case 580D, and my John Deere 6615 with it. After shopping for one a lot I settled on a PJ.
I opted for the model that actually has a hydraulic pump for actuating the cylinders rather than the passive type. That way I have full control of the tilt both up and down.
I bought it new and have had it for about 7 years with no problems.
One thing I highly recommend is having some type of traction surface on the rear part of the tilt deck.
This makes it so much safer and helps prevent sliding as you're loading. Especially if it's damp or wet.

I second PJ trailers. My two dumps are PJ. I'd add to Gunny's post that while you equip with hydraulic pump, don't forget to add in hydraulic jacks. Beats the heck out of cranking the jack up and down all the time. I've spoiled myself.

Boy you got that right! Will never have another trailer without them. Well worth the money.

We operate 16' (deck size) tilt deck trailers for moving our skids around. They have dual 6 ton axels and we have several for sale around the state for around $4500 if you're interested in something used.
