If I could go back to the late 1800s and punch colonel Johnson in the face, I certainly would!! I swear if Elon ever builds a spaceship that goes to the surface of the sun, they will find it there too!

Now how do I kill it? Will spraying Glyphosate work on it and kill it dead?

That will work. Mow it frequently. Keep it low will weaken it

It might eventually. It stores a lot of energy in the below ground rhizomes. And we are seeing some glyphosate tolerance/ resistance in some areas. You basically just need to keep hitting it until it's gone.

Now do the Kings for the KR bluestem... At least Johnson grass can provide very good forage if you can avoid the potenitial nitrate problem arrising from stress.

Glyphosate just tickles it anymore in some areas so you'll have to watch and see if it kills. If it doesn't kill it, use something else. Unfortunately it worked too well when it first came out and people way overused it as their only herbicide year after year after year and now we have glyphosate tolerant Johnsongrass.

No, you need leaf present to kill it. If you cut it, you don't get enough of the chemical into the plant to kill it.

What HTown says. Shred it before it heads out. Then when it's about fresh regrowth about 8-12" tall is when I spray it with Outrider. There is a generic Outrider but I don't remember what it's called.

I grazed my cattle on it once it was over 18" and there is very little left. They kept going back to it over and over and now it's just Bermuda and natives and of course in this drought, weeds

Johnsongrass was introduced at Black Gap in the 1950s. And it's still there in that godforesaken arid environment with untold years of drought.

Pastora Herbicide will kill it. That's what TxDOT was using on ROW.
Won't kill Bermuda grass. Bayer makes it.

In a pasture cows will graze it to death. I round bale it, cows love the hay.

Got it. Makes sense now. I thought what I had typed wasn't showing up correctly or such.
Is Cryder the same formulation and is the mixing concentration the same?
I've got a 50 acre plus field to treat and I have very little Outrider left. I'm all for getting something that will work the same and be cheaper.

Same formulation as Outrider. About $100-$150 cheaper per bottle. A bottle covers 26.5 acres . When my Outrider is gone I'll buy this.
I mix in an ounce of MSM when I spray and that helps. MSM is cheap . I use it with RM43 on fence rows too.

I have fescue and bluestem in that pasture and that's why I have used Outrider. I buy it in a granular form.
I use Eraser for my fence rows or RM43.
