Heard on his podcast Steve Rinella talking about "Judas goats" - same concept, on Santa Rosa island. They sterilize a goat, put a GPS collar on it, it finds the herds. Shooters from a helicopter find and thin the herd. Rinse. Wash. Repeat.

Off topic question.....is it common for ranches to do this type of social media stuff/promotion?

I was always taught that hogs won't go back to the same trap over and over. Guess we've got a dumb pig.

It's not common but becoming more common. There are some social media influencers that make a fair chunk of $ by filming their lives on their ranches.

I don't do any kind of social media stuff outside of TexAgs (unless you count YouTube), so I had no idea. That is pretty cool though. Glad it helps with the income.

I've run into the guy from Bar 7 Ranch at a feed store in Hamilton. They live just west of Gatesville.

Here in Brown county, we have a few that haven't gone big yet but are trying.

The Draper Ranch (above with the viral Hog, Cheeto) is near Baird.

Yes social media has been great supplemental income when used correctly

I assumed her ear tag was GPS tracked. Judas pig links up with another sounder and gives that sounder's location away. Then a trap can be moved and set or pigs can be hunted with their exact location and general pattern known.
