August in Aggieland is not subtle.

The seats are hot. The walk across campus feels longer than you remember. And even standing still can leave you wondering why you bothered to shower.

There may not be a game at Kyle Field until September 5, but every Aggie who has attended an early-season game knows the heat does not always check the schedule.

Maybe you remember sitting in the student section with the sun directly in your face. Maybe it was one of those afternoon kickoffs when the water, sunscreen and frozen towels could not keep up. Or maybe the hottest game you remember had less to do with the temperature and more to do with what happened on the field.

However miserable it felt at the time, it probably became one of those stories you still tell.

This in 2007. Hard to describe just how miserable that was. Looked it up and it was only 92 degrees, but very humid and NO wind. And then all the overtimes. I really did not care who won at a certain point.

This is the only game I've ever had tickets to that I didn't go to because of the weather. I can remember the weather forecast being intense enough that it was being talked about as dangerous to be outside that long at that time of day. I can't remember which bar we went to instead, but it was the right call. We met back up with friends who still went after the game and they wished they had done the same. In addition to them being miserable the whole time they told us how many people end up with heat-related medical issues in the stands and it was significant. I've been to plenty of games where the pre-game weather was brutal, but the game was at night, so it was manageable.

I think the 2005 home opener against SMU was worse than Fresno State in 2007, but I could be misremembering.

Wyoming on September 9, 2000. It was 96 degrees, which was practically chilly after we hit 112 degrees the Tuesday before. I was in the Corps, so standing the sun the whole time wearing a gabardine uniform was ... unpleasant.

Same. Wearing low quarters and having all the black polish melt off your shoes was very unpleasant.

SMU in 05 and Fresno St in 07

2016 NM State. Not saying hottest ever just hottest personally. I left Kyle 5 min into first 1/4. Went over to MSC and watched it on TV in the AC.

2007 Fresno St had a heat index of 115. The other one that comes to mind was LSU 1989. With a high of 101. That was the game that made the AD change the rules to let fans bring water into the stadium.

I will never forget that 112-degree day was Silver Taps. Midnights were brutal.

Walking out of Kyle in September 17, 2005 vs SMU the temp meter on Kyle was showing 104. Historical data shows the relative humidity that day reached 61%. That puts the heat index at 146.3 deg.
