So if I have a lifetime license and had it for years, do I need to go into a store to verify my ID?

Based on the fact those idiots can't send a duck stamp in the same calendar year it's ordered and paid for, I'm
Not uploading my DL to their craptastox website. Just this once I'll do it at academy.

So they want me to upload an image of my ID just after they had a massive data breach. So sick of the government

No. There is probably always going to be an option for paper tags.
Has to be a paper tag for redfish.

I thought they were getting rid of paper tags this year? They pushing that back?

If they get rid of paper tags and make everybody go digital, my status as a law abiding hunter is likely to change. Because F the digital crap, especially when you have to......make a paper tag anyway.

So so so so many states have been all digital tags successfully way before Texas. Its a good change. Digitally tagging and then completing the logs is very simple and easier to comply for the average idiot.

Honestly, my favorite activity of the year is picking up my tags at Academy with my lifetime license. The feeling of superiority is unmatched when the kid at the table tells me I need to show my receipt first and I get to respond, "No, I don't."

It is not a good change. It is an absolutely crap change.
Like I said also - with deer, you digitally tag the game then you have to affix an actual tag with the digital tag number given to you when you digitally tag the game to the deer. So you have to paper tag it anyway. It's fuggin stupid as hell.
Paper tagging isn't hard. Fill out the information, apply the tag, fill in the log on your license. If you can't do that, you don't need to be hunting or fishing anyway and probably need to go play on train tracks and do the world a favor.
It's also a miracle that before tagging GW's would almost never show up to places, but once digital tagging started and people started using it, Mr. Green Jeans magically appeared as if a ghost walking out of the corn in Field of Dreams.
Hard.Pass.

Been using digital tags since they started and still have never had a warden visit me in the field. Even hunt on an FM road and have seen the warden drive by and wave.
Interesting to note, I don't stay the night where I hunt. If I did, I might have received a visit from a warden. I have tagged deer digitally morning and night. Haven't specifically rushed off the property after tagging but obviously don't hang around either.
Building a cabin onsite in early 2027 so can test this theory next hunting season
