Another year, another long list of angry shortcomings. But a few of my OK moments. And Lexofer was also there and as always did way better than me.

All shotgun slugs and pistol. Slugs at 65 and 70 yards on steel I think

Same stage but from different view

My shotgun decides it doesn't want to work. It only got worse over the weekend. Still had a decent run

Just the first rifle part. I was slow but one shotted the 701 yard target.

And slow as hell, and really frustrated at the time but still somehow had a lot of fun shooting out of the RV to some yardage over 500. Can't remember. Using the bipod turned out to be a major mistake.

Good shooting. If I remember correctly the furthest long range targets on the RV stage were 420 and 450. The 420 yard target was the most difficult as it was significantly smaller. Lots of 500+ yard targets at this match. Most I can remember at any of the regular major matches.

A Hayes Benelli M2 should be reliable. Did you ask Ben or Jay about it?

We really lucked out on the rain. I think the early squads Sunday got some but not nearly what was forecast.

I really should record more, didn't get a single video this match. The 600+ yard targets killed me. I checked my zero right before the match but for some reason was hitting way right on all the far targets there. I was almost 10% behind the leader in Tac going into Sunday. Got stage wins on my last two stages, one by almost 10 seconds. Got within 1.2% of the winner, not quite enough. I should have played around on the long range bay on Thursday and figured that out. I really need to win a belt buckle.

Yeah, I'm probably gonna buy one from Aaron in the next few months. I had one of the Gunsmith's with Briley's look at it after day 1 and he thought it just needed all new springs but they were replaced probably 2000 rounds ago.

I don't think I throw the shotgun down any harder than the other guys but apparently I just beat this one up too much

I thought I saw it was a Hayes when it was laying on the platform in the RV. I've been running the same M2 for 18 years now. Replaced all the springs just once. The magazine tube spring I replace every 1-2 years.

Aaron did the bolt on my shotgun but other than that its just a Benelli 3gun edition.

This was probably my favorite Magpul TX3G yet. All of the stages were top-notch, and we got so lucky with the weather holding out as long as it did! Always cool to know that we have more Aggies in the multigun world.

The stages this year were all very good. Aaron made the stages fun and most were easy to reset quickly.

Lex and Rally,

Are either of you going to Memorial this year?

If so how does that match compare to Magpul? Is the range big enough to drive to each stage or small enough to need a cart?

My neighbors go to these all over. Tons of fun and friends!!

Do you happen to know "Dirt Dart"?

I am not, but a group of DFW shooters is. Let me reach out to a buddy who has shot it.

I've been to Memorial the last 5 years. It is the best match going on right now, one of the best 3-Gun match of all time. You drive between stages, they're spread out and plenty of parking at each. Land is flat and roads are smooth. If it rains it's possible to get some mud in the fields but conditions are better than TX3G. 2025 Match Book has the stage map on page 15.

Stages are great but all the events surrounding the match are what make it special. Each year 10 soldiers are honored, one for each stage. Most of their families are there, getting to experience the match, telling their stories, and at the end there's a memorial service where the families get to say whatever they would like about their husband/son/father/friend. One of the 2024 honorees has two kids at A&M right now that I talked with quite a while.

The match is run by a large committee that works year round to put it on. Everything is very professional and organized, there's a lot of vendors, side stages, food, and a huge prize table.

You will get to shoot a stage out of an old 727 and a 40ft tower. A few large bay stages, some long range, and some jungle runs. There are options for how to shoot most stages unlike TX3G. The range isn't quite as pretty as Reveille Peak Ranch but the stages are varied.

This is the only public event I believe this range allows. Normally they do SF training for the soldiers from Bragg. You'll likely see the Golden Knights practicing at the adjoining airfield. I was watching a video from Sig the other day testing some new products and noticed it was at this range.

Be ready to sign up as soon as it opens because it fills up fast and for good reason.

Just noticed Shooting USA put up their feature on the match. The family with two Aggies is featured at 6:27.

Great thread. I did competition number 4 or 5 yesterday, and it is crazy to see how good Martel and these pros are at these events compared to where I am. I'm way better than I was starting out, but a long way to go. In my comp yesterday I learned I've never shot an AR from a kneeling position and I really need to practice that, I was awkward and terrible at it.

They are sooo fun though!

Renaissance Shooting Club in Magnolia (northwest of Houston). The IADC runs them twice a year for charity (military charities like Camp Hope). I shoot with my friends that are military vets.

You live in a great area for 3 Gun. There are also lots of 2 Gun matches here in Houston.

If you are familiar with Practiscore.com you can find something to shoot most months for 3 or 2 gun. That website is a little difficult to navigate, but you just have to fight it.

Thunder Gun Range in Conroe has a monthly match. I may shoot it on 5/2.

Cool! Yes I have an account with practiscore, that's how they capture all the data and share event info. I hadn't looked for other options, but now I will!

Each time I've had fun but left with a new skill I need to practice!

If I sign up for that match, I will come back to this thread and let you know. You can look at the squads . I will normally be in Tom Dowdy's squad.

I go to that match because I try to support Tom and I do have a good time but it's not a match laid out like I like to shoot

Does this match normally have more or less long range shooting as compared to Magpul?
lexofer
How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Less. Magpul this year with 4 targets over 600 yards was on the high end of any match I've ever been to.

If I remember correctly 500 yards is usually the furthest at Memorial. The far targets are mostly very large and often have a block of concrete behind them which makes for great feedback. Last year there were a good number of long range targets but none were overly difficult and usually just a handful on a stage.

The last couple of years there's been robotic targets at 100-300 yards driving around on preset paths that take 1 or 2 hits to knock down depending on how they're programmed.

There's also usually some sporty pistol shots. Had 1 at 150 yards a couple of years back at an oversized IPSC. Usually some in the 80-100 yard range.

Most of the match is pretty easy and fun. There will be at least 1 memory stage that requires a good plan and execution. I'll be there on Thursday walking stages if you want to go over it.
Martels Hammer

Excellent, I will take you up on the offer.

I am slow with a LPVO. Normally have no problem shooting out to 500 with a dot and flip over 3X. I prefer the dot and it sounds like this match is one where I can bring my preferred set up.

I actually had my dot and magnifier with me for Magpul but didn't want to run that set up after walking stages. Im sure I will bring both uppers to Memorial so I have the option and decide before day 1.
