We dodged a bullet. The only thing we got in the 'valley' of East Tennessee was rain, and a ton of it (which we needed). We got a bit of snow, and then some sleet/hail, and then the temp went to 33 degrees and we got soaked.
I'm such an old man. While I enjoy snow, I was so happy we didn't get the freezing rain that was predicted.
The irony of this...there was so much more snow south and west of us. Weird...but that's what happens in this area from time to time.

South Nashville, snow turned to freezing rain lots of ice accumulation. My yard looks like world war tree. Praying at least the 2 big trees can recover.

Had the unfortunate timing of being in Grand Rapids Michigan when the front hit. First whiteout experience .
Flew out next day -2 degrees in afternoon sun. Cold but they just test it like any other day up there. Bit different at home 2 days later but the kids enjoyed ice trampoline and crunching around outside .

It has been pretty pleasant in NW Colorado this weekend, but never broke 30*. I have read 4 books, split a cord of wood and reloaded hundreds of rounds. I am bored to tears today and am pricing a 6.8 Western to buy now.

Just dropped below freezing in the west side of Houston. No snow, no sleet, no freezing rain. Should get back above freezing by noon tomorrow.
In Austin County we never got out of the 24-26 degrees range today.

Austin, TX - The Electric Reliability Council of Texas has issued a Weather Watch for Jan. 24-27 due to forecasted below-freezing temperatures with the possibility of frozen precipitation, higher electrical demand and the potential for lower reserves.
ERCOT is monitoring weather conditions closely and will deploy all available tools to manage the grid. In anticipation of the extreme cold weather, ERCOT is coordinating preparation efforts with the Texas Energy Reliability Council, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, the Texas Division of Emergency Management and other state agencies, as well as with Market Participants.
Peak hours are expected to be between 6:00 AM & 10:00 AM on Monday. While ERCOT is making their preparations, you can do your part by turning your thermostat down 5 to 7 during those critical hours to reduce the strain on our electric grid.

Wait what? All last week every news outlet covered ERCOT press conferences where they said they were well prepared and there would be no issues. Hmmmm........

Yes it's bad around here. Unfortunately the 12-20" of snow turned into all ice build up / freezing rain all morning with very little snow. Praying we don't get the wind gusts that are predicted. All the trees are still covered in a thick layer of ice.

Side note, I looked at the TxDot site for the live traffic cams. I picked one on I-35 near my house in the Waco area, not a vehicle in sight.

I too have flown in/out of the Grand Rapids airport several times. Flying into/out of any of the airports near the Great Lakes can be a crap shoot this time of year.
