This kind of thing only happens to people that wear crocs while hunting. Best of luck OP.

I have same blind. I would break one piece of the glass or try to push it in off track and then use stick or something to get keys. I blacked out some of my windows anyway for sun and more cover so just replace with piece of wood or whatever.

By the way, you think this is bad, 20 years ago we had deer lease in way west Texas (Langtry). Bought new feeder from Carter's Country (old school tripod). Drove all the way out there (6.5 hours) to set it up and my blind was another 45 minutes through rough terrain to get there, and when setting it up we realized they didn't drill the holes on the steel poles where it connects to the barrel. So had to use bailing wire to rig it until we came back. Fun times.

At least you could use it. Loaded up with little man and off to see which of you has the best fix. Two tool boxes and chainsaws loaded up.

If you don't have theft issues, just drill out the lock. Seems like the best way. I have hunted at friends places and I know at least 3 blinds that had drilled out locks because of lost keys and the doors never were locked again. Most of the places we hunted had a no lock policy. If it was locked it would just get destroyed being broke into.

I'd drill the lock then bill them the replacement coat.

If it was me:

Turn it on its side
Cut a hole in the bottom
Climb in
Turn it right side up
Hunt

If locksmith, picking lock yourself or taking the window off aren't viable, I'd go this route, but only cut a 3/4" hole to hook the keys and pull them through (assuming they're on a ring). Simple patch later.

As for window seal, a $5 tube of silicone will work. I've used that on many leaky fiberglass blinds.

Good luck. Hope this is your biggest problem of 2026!

Outdoor Board is slipping. We're on page 2 of suggestions and no one has said just burn the damn thing down!

Well best I can figure is one of the pins was stuck. Shoved the end of a zip tie in it and felt one move then the lock straight up came out. Just like that we are in. Won't be putting it back in. Lucky it was a fast and easy fix.

In their defense, I think it was just a defective lock. Could have happened at any point. At least it's fixed.

Posts like this make me want to quit posting here. If you knew me I would maybe laugh, but everyone just tries to post zingers and crap now. I miss the old days of this board with less smartasses.

Giddings treat social media as a war zone. Give no respect to who you don't know or don't know you.

I've followed all your Live threads for years and they are fun. Crocs and all

Pretty sure there was much more smartassery in the old days here. I legitimately miss it. Zingers and giving and taking crap amongst the boys is one of the things I miss most from my younger days I have discovered as I get older. I don't have much of it these days. Life has taken to me to the too corporate and urban whitewashed side of the fence. I always thought you were in the same vein though and that's why posters always gave ya ***** Never realized it bothered you till just now. Definitely noted and I don't think I made any of those comments in the past but if I had, my apologies.

I mean, I'm all about joking around. And something can be funny once or twice. But I guess the same "you never see anything" gets old considering how much I see and shoot every year. And since only a few of us post live hunting threads throughout the year, it's kind of annoying. Idk. Maybe I'm just noticing it more.

You're always a good sport about it in the live threads, but I would be annoyed too if people were chirping me in other threads, especially when you're asking for help.

Glad you got in the blind. Maybe I'll make a live thread for my sweaty doe hunt tomorrow.

Does stink that the lock is essentially trash now.

But glad you got in!

Also, man, I thought you were fully invested into the "I make posts for folks to enjoy and talk **** about" had no idea that wasn't your thang.

All about a new joke or what not, but some stuff gets played out. Maybe I'm old. "209, shoot it in the nuts, … is outdoors"…. I just roll my eyes a lot more these days. I'll work on that in 2026. Ha ha

I have never met you, but based on your posts in some ways I feel like I know you ...to an extent. It's a weird thing for sure. You are the originator of going live threads and provide a lot to the board. I hope you keep posting and don't let it get to you. In my opinion people give you a hard time because they feel like they know you. Like you would with a friend. There is also and element of anonymity through screen names and people trying to get blue stars that play into this as well.

I'm mostly a lurker in Outdoors, and always love your Going Live threads. I literally laughed out loud yesterday in regard to the post about this type of thing only happening to people who hunt in Crocs and had to explain the entire Giddings Going Live genre to my wife and daughter.

Having said all that, I too thought that part of the reason you post these is for the group to collectively kick each other in the nuts like a bunch of old friends around the camp fire. I doubt I've ever piled on, but if I have I do apologize.

Humor like this is tough enough when it is between actual friends and in-person, just because someone always carries things too far, or has no idea the subject of the ribbing has had a really crappy day and that the jokes are going to be the straw that broke the camel's back. Now throw in Internet distance and the fact that some of the barbs are coming from unfamiliar screen names of people we certainly have never met or shared a beer with and it can go south quickly.

Sorry for any of the past or future folks who take things a little too far trying to get a laugh, me included. But please keep these threads coming they are entertaining on so many fronts! And Happy New Year!

Giddings, I have also appreciated your threads and the culture? /jokes on your behalf that have been thrown your way. Please don't take them too personally.

Back to your lock problem.

My amateur experience in lock smithing noticed one of your pictures where you pulled the core out with a zip tie. Apparently the zip tie worked just as a "control" key would to remove the lock cylinder core. You may be able to use the zip tie as the control key and put it back in the cylinder to make your lock function again.

If not, contact the manufacturer and see if they will send you a control key to put it back in. Or better yet a new core and key or heck, the entire lock mechanism.

A key or cylinder and key won't cost them much and would ship fast in a small envelope.

Good luck with the hunt and keep them younguns out in the wild as much as you can.
