I've been wondering if something was going on behind the scenes.

My property taxes have been stable for decades. But for 2026 they have tripled, on pasture land with ag exemption and cows grazing.

There is a new Facebook page that some community members created to keep everyone aware of what's going on with this center.

Please share this with your family

I agree, I think we are too late to the party. However, the land hasn't been purchased yet. It went under contract in October for an Option to purchase within 11 months, depending on how their background and survey work comes out. Meeting is still going on as of now. Lots of people showed up.

This is good news! You can fight it. How did anyone find out about this pre purchase? The ones in our county were sold over a year and the only people that knew were TJ entente acquisition team and the seller. Not even the county was involved until after.

Once we had heard rumors of this happening I found the option contract on Texas land records between the owner and Belltown Power.

IS there a way to free search his or get a subscription so you don't have to pay per view?

This site is free but only has a handful of counties in it. It's free to view but you would have to pay to be able to download it.

That's crazy. I found everything on the local county pages. But again, it requires someone to have loose lips and the landowners around here don't talk. I have no idea how on earth you find this info pre sale unless you are just combing properties for clues like water rights release and such. That's another thing a lot of these guys do. They sell all of the water rights to the data center too as an additional real estate. Pretty slick.

Well, glad yall caught it pre sale, maybe it can be stopped.

Thank you. It will be a battle and not sure we can stop it but we as a community will be a thorn in their side during the whole process. I'm glad the word is out and people showed up to the commissioners meeting.

Also, I had been keeping an eye on this since this lady came in out of nowhere buying this much acreage starting in 2022. One of the properties she bought had been in the same family since the late 1800's so it was big news when it sold. Shortly after she purchased it, I found where she went under contract with Belltown for a battery storage facility.

75mi SE of you

I build data centers, lots of NDAs in place and most have been planned and equipment bought out pre-covid for the ones we're doing now.

That could be lots of places, depending on ESE or SE or SSE. When you have public info, I'd like a heads up.

Worse case scenario is Caprock Canyons State Park area

But surely not

Data centers and BESS projects need to die a quick death. Too resource intensive with little to no value to the general public.

Good luck finding water if they're going 75 miles SE of Canyon…

These things are an absolute mess. But, here is the driver...

Quote:

The impact of the $10 billion tax value at buildout is not lost on Lacy Lakeview Mayor Charles Wilson.
"For the city, a tax base of this quantity is a paradigm-changer for us," Wilson told the Bridge on a Tuesday call. "We're obviously keen on seeing it get done." Lacy Lakeview currently has a tax base of $649 million.

Rural towns love this **** and the political crooks in office that we all put there love to keep the wool over everyone's eyes because of it. I am stoked as hell when it gets out and people put it to a screeching halt. They should come with removal of every political figure that quietly pushed it along while the community slept.

When your county have hundreds of thousands of acres in Ag, and you can get one of these eyesores in to tax the dog crap out of....yeah...the city is going to do whatever it takes.

Yep always comes back to money. We are pushing our commissioners here to not give a tax abatement to the company. If they do, they will be voted out of office.

I hope you are successful. But there is always a hardwire tax break or deferment. Once the taxes kick in for a datacenter, the city then has funds for rapid growth. The problem that frustrates me is that its nearly impossible to determine, over time, where a suitable site will be. So, you go buy 1000 acres in BFE, Texas, and then 8 months later when you close on it, you find out some ******* sold to a datacenter and you have a new neighbor. It makes my gut sick.

We are an extremely small rural area. 2A school that does not have room to grow. Hell we can't even keep enough teachers here anymore. We are set up for this where we are at.
