Any of y'all have and like Bajio sunglasses?

I think I remember reading on here that they are a spin off of Costa?

I've had a pair for about 4 months now. They're great!

When Costa was bought by Luxottica Costa's former Chief Marketing Officer founded Bajio is the way I recall it. Other former Costa leadership were also hired. They are probably pretty good sunglasses but I have no experience with them.

They are not cheap! Especially if you wear prescription sunglasses.

They are great. I have several pair in daily service. I wear them while guiding. They are expensive. Helps that they sponsor me. But that is not why I am posting. I only pursue and take on sponsorships from equipment that I already use anyway. Never have I ever taken a sponsorship or been swayed to a product due to a sponsor offer. Only equipment that I like and use do i pursue and take sponsorship.

Biggest advantage for me was the lighter colors that transmit more light. As I get older my eyesight is changing and the amber lens blue mirror or green mirror Costas were just too dark anymore. I had to take them off to do detailed tasks or to see into dark shadowed areas like into my livewell to get bait.

I use the violet mirror for low light and overcast and when it is raining.

I use the rose mirror most often for about 85% of everything I do.

Silver mirror for the brightest of bright days on clear open water when there is a lot of reflection.

The others have become too dark for me.

I got a pair with the violet lens a few months ago and they've been great. Used on the flats for bonefish, then redfish, bass/sunfish, and this week for trout in the mountains. I can wear them all day, work well in low light and bright light as well. I got the Vega frames that block the side light well. I didn't like some of their early frames that allowed the side light in.

I have a pair that were a gift and they're ok. Lightweight and the optics are OK but IMHO they're below Costa. That being said, all of my Costas are pre-buyout so I'm not sure what they're like now.

If you are or know someone who is military, first responder, healthcare, teacher, etc, check out https://govshades.com .

They have some really good deals and give two $25 off coupons for website signups that can be used on top of the already discounted Bajio glasses. I scored two pairs of Bales glass lenses for $150 each two weeks ago. Even though their big sale just ended you should still be able to get them for $175 with coupon.

Highly recommend. I've switched from Costas to Bajios. Better warranty but more importantly I find the contrast that the polarization puts out is better with Bajio. Especially the green lenses on the flats. Their violet lens is a great low light offering.

Like Grem, also on their pro program. But I was wearing them before that and was still recommending them.

I swap out Smith (Guides Choice & Deckboss) and Costa (Tuna Alley) when sightfishing. I am not married to either brand and will give Bajio a shot when its time to retire a pair.

Tried to replace my Costas with them & ended up returning them. Definitely not the same color glass as Costa. I like the green mirror and Bajio's gave everything a purplish tint. Tried Smith, Maui Jim, and RayBan too. Returned all of them & ordered new Costas. I'm riding with what I know & like, warranty be damned.

What would be the Bajio equivalent lens of the Costa Green Mirror copper 580G? I've been considering going to Bajio if/when I break my Cat Cays and Jose's. Any fishing I do is inshore for trout, reds and flounder. I do have an Outer Banks trip offshore in Sep but that's more of a 1 off at this point. Otherwise I like the copper base for driving.

I went shopping for a pair to maybe replace my 10 yo Costas with 1.5 reader cheaters. I need 1.75 now and not available.

There is no Bajio equivalent nor a Maui Jim or Smith. I like the color vibrance with Costa green mirror 580G & there's no equivalent across the brands I mentioned above.

Have you tried the Smith Riptide in ChromaPop Glass green mirror lens? Most comfortable and best glass imo.

I still have a pair I bought from the classifieds with the Chromapop lenses and they don't even come close to the red/green color contrast I like. They have already started delaminating after 4 months so my wife wears them sometimes. Not for me.

I will agree that the smith chromapop green mirror glass have what the other poster describes as a purplish tint compared to the green mirror costa 580Gs but it doesn't bother me. I've caught fish in both. The smith plastic chromapop are not the same color when wearing as glass for sure. Can't say how costa plastic compares to glass for fishing though.

Think it comes down to personal preference. It's truly a first world problem to have to choose between competing high end sports eyewear for a specific purpose.

That said it would be cool if bajio had a try before you buy.

My thoughts (try before buy). Wanna be better than Costa? Prove it.

From my experience Costas lenses are still by far the best optics but their warranty/customer service seems to have declined since the sale to Luxotica. But I haven't had a warranty claim since that deal went down.

I've got a pair and love them, was always a Costa guy and tried smith but they aren't as good as the Bajio in my opinion

I'll chime in here as I've got a lot of hours on the flats and have tried a dozen or so lenses from several manufacturers. I'm blue green colorblind (dieter anomaly) so optical clarity and color distinction is more important for me than for others. So this is probably really helpful for those who are colorblind.

Smith low light igniters. Best "through the water" lens I've tried and it ain't close. So good that I wear them on sunny days too. Started doing this instead of just low light and cloudy days after fishing w a permit guide in Belize who wears them 100% of the time. Just excellent for my eyes and help me pick up the fish faster. My eyes don't do me any favors so these were game changers. If you sight cast, get these now. If you're color blind and sight cast, stop what you're doing right now and go order them.

I've got some smith green mirror copper glass lenses. They are very good for clarity. Better than my Costas for that purpose.

Regarding the Bajios, I listened to a podcast by the Bajio founder, talked about his story and the innovations in Bajios glass technology, given my eyes I thought I'd give them a try. They immediately became a strong number 2 option when I'm not wearing the low light igniters. My Smiths are now backup glasses.

I bought the rose lenses after emailing back and forth with one of Bajios customer support agents about the best lens color for color blindness and flats sight fishing. The guy actually knew what he was talking about and I couldn't be happier w the glasses. Hard to explain but the edges of everting are just crisper, lenses are crisp/clear, and that rose lens makes the redfish pop a little more on the flats when the water is dirty and not gin clear.

I'll go as far as to say that for me, being color blind, my glasses are the most important part of my gear, more important than rod, reel, fly choice, any of that. Because if I can't see the fish none of the rest matters. The Bajios were a great addition to my boat bag. Wore them this week offshore fishing in cape cod and those lenses can definitely handle full sun and blue water too.

My Costas are relegated to the truck and everyday wear. They don't even make it on the boat anymore. YMMV of course, but hope that this info is helpful for some.

I bought a pair of green mirror Vegas a couple of months ago. I love them. The clarity and vibrance is amazing. I wish they had more styles which I am sure will come with time. Highly recommend.

So Bajios are best for defective people?

Embrace the suck, my dude. Between that and my 20/100 nearsightedness, my dream to become a fighter pilot and astronaut was short lived!

Eyes were good enough to feed this big girl down in Florida in May. 100 plus pounder. Ate a tiny worm fly around the worm hatch. Note the hat and glasses!

Great glass. The frames are too damned big for my face, though.

Their website has a filter on size, have you tried the small frames?

I have the Piedra frames that compare to Costa Tuna Alley frames, and I have the Nipper frames which compare to Costa Jose frames IMO. I prefer the Piedra's over the Costa Alley's that I own the fit is more comfortable and the frame blocks the sun better. The Tuna Alley frames leak a bit of sun around the nose piece area if I don't keep them pushed tight to my face. Between the Nippers and the Costa Jose, the Jose wins hands down, they are more comfortable. As far as glass goes, I am no Caladan but I think the Bajio is better than the Costa's.

I have a pair of Vega frames with Green mirror glass lenses. It took me a few tries to find the frames that fit me the best because the measurements on the Bajio website didn't seem to be accurate when compared to my previous Oakley Flak Jacket frame. But I love the fit and wide body of the Vega and am thinking about getting another pair in the violet lenses for overcast days fishing and daily wear.

I have really enjoyed my Smith Guides Choice in the Chromapop. I usually wear my old Hook and Bullet lenses inshore. It kind of depends on what is in the truck that morning, for me, as both of those are solid fishing lenses from what I have seen.
