This was like my dad's lever action "tactical shotgun" he used for his 40 years in Law Enforcement. It was a Winchester Model 1901 in 10 gauge. He had the barrel cut down to configure it much like the short barrel Model 1887 also pictured.
He kept it hung in front of his front seat in his patrol cars.

I miss the front seat shotgun scabbard on the truck bench seats. Was so easy to grab as soon as getting out without having to open the rear door.

Granddaddy had a truck rear window rack. And a 22 in it. Never locked his doors and was never stolen
