Can you share your knowledge with what you know now which direction you would go.
Sometimes crazy hits too close to home (church) and you realize you'd rather have 3 touch points than 2.
Probably would stick an Acro/RMR. Hux suppressor. Light. Would like to place in a backpack something the size of Haley strategic flat pack or a 5.11 one sling pack.
CTE is real……And God Bless this poor fellow. It's not his fault.
injury from a motorcycle accident) with scar running forehead to back….
Aggression. Poor Judgement. Behavior.
My man exercised his 2a rights like a boss. 44 magnum tucked in a chest rig like dirty damn Harry 2025. Only problem brother was 3x the legal limit. PD called. Arrested. Etc etc etc.
Just made me realize 3 touch points would be a whole lot better than 2. I mean I knew it always was…..but when situation occurred on my week of Roving Duty…..I'm saying to self…..man a PCC/pdw sure would be nice to have.
Happy to talk pcc/pdw stuff, but i wont be at a keyboard where I can go full Tolstoy until tomorrow afternoon but ill try to write a few quick thoughts.
Never bought a TP9 because im left eye dominant and they have a ton of gas blowback to the face for lefties. The pro is supposed to be an improvement in every way but thryre not out yet.
Ill expand more later but if I was in yourvshoes and wanting a lightweight bag gun it would probably be between the mp5k, flux 365 or tp9.
PDW/PCC stuff is a lot like regular handguns, everything is a tradeoff between size and capability, and deciding what fits into your life and needs best.
I've tried using all four of these at one point or another as PDWs.
From top to bottom
Rattler (will fit into a haley flat pack, since you mentioned that as a possible size criteria.) Pros: rifle cartridge Cons: heavy. Close to 7lbs.
MP5k Pros: mp5 reliability, recoil, lots of accessories cons: H&K prices on accessories even if you buy a clone MP5, harder to mount optics
Flux raider Pros: light, small, can carry extra mag on board Cons: based on a 320. Given current concerns with the 320, I carry mine on an empty chamber when bagged (honestly, empty chamber is good policy for bag guns period, but make sure you train/practice for that).
USW Pros: holsterable. literally a handgun with a stock. Cons: literally a handgun with a stock. Mine is 320 based. B&T makes one that is Sphinx/CZ based, but its $$
The Raider 365 could fit in between the Raider and the USW here. Its holsterable, has a stock, carries an extra mag....I'm tempted to pick one up myself. If I was you, I'd probably go for one of these over the 320 based Flux. Its very similar but even smaller, which would be great.
The TP9 is also probably in the Flux Raider range size/weight wise. It also has a horrible trigger, requires a specific suppressor, is $$$ and the next gen ones aren't even out yet.
The other option you do have is something like the APC9k. It's small, can be bought set up to run B&T mags, 320 mags or even Glock mags so if your EDC is a Glock that might be a good option. But again...B&T so $$$ and weight and size wise it's going to be closer to MP5k than Flux.
After using all four of the guns pictured, the one that has been my absolute favorite as a realistic bag gun/pdw is the Flux Raider. The combination of weight, size, effectiveness etc is hard to beat. I love shooting the MP5k but the Raider is still easy to shoot and lighter.
I've been carrying mine in a nondescript $20 sling bag from Amazon (banana for scale). I knew I had picked the right concealment bag when I boarded a flight and a 70 year old grandma in front of me had the same bag.
This bag also lets me carry an IFAK and TQ.
Which brings me to an important point: If you haven't taken a stop the bleed class at a minimum, do that before you buy a pdw. Figure out how you're going to carry and employ life saving first aid equipment. Med stuff is more important than gun stuff in almost every emergency. Being good with your EDC handgun is also more important than pdw bag guns. Take classes, shoot competitions, get really good with your carry gun. Its the most likely tool you'll have on you. Skills>Gear. Alright, off my soap box.
One more slightly crazy option: You can also "spec ops chop" a flux raider to make it smaller if you want/need. I've done that with my other 320 and I'm really liking it so far.
But yes, I'm a firm believer in the benefits and capabilities of pdws/bag guns for armed citizens. If you have the handgun training and med training boxes checked off, its a great way to make you, your family, your church, whatever a harder target for a nutjob.
Not Bender, so hope you don't mind - just in case you didn't know, there's three short MPX's (along with the 16" rifle). There is the K, the Copperhead, and the Copperhead K. I only mention this because I see confusion between these names on retailer sites. Just make sure you are getting the correct version, should decide to go with one of these. The regular Copperhead is the smallest and would make for a great bag gun, although you would have to buy a different barrel in order to suppress. IIRC, the MPX K and the Copperhead K are threaded.
I only have experience with the MPX PCC, but I can say that it is a very accurate weapon that has been 100% reliable over many thousands of rounds.
