Posted this on the Business forum but probably will have more luck in here considering the amount of hunters that make meat sticks and sausages. Looking to get some new packaging designed. Any recommendations? I know where to find the bags, but would like to have some designs done. Thanks.

Put a flap on the inside of the zipper so you don't catch the skin in the zipper.

I don't know what you expected, but it probably should have been that.

Well, my wife suggested posting Justin Timberlake's DIAB SNL video, so I think I was pretty restrained in my response.

On a side note, I really should cut back on her Texags screen time...she is getting too good at this for comfort.

Are you looking at pouches? I am assuming you are trying to find designer to do the graphics for the package. An easy way to start is through Vistaprint if so. They have templates that you can work from and once you have something you like, you can go to a more cost efficient manufacturer.

The 'grandfather' of vacuum packed film for meat products is Cryo Vac out of Duncan, SC.

Cryo Vac has an interesting 'connection' to Texas A&M. Back in the mid 60's, Manny Rosenthal (whom the A&M Meat lab is named), was the first portioned-cut steak cutter in the United States to utilize Cryo Vac film to vacuum package steaks. Back then, vacuum package technology was in its infancy, and the leaker rate of sealed packaged meat was about 5%. Cryo Vac personnel told Manny it wouldn't work, and that he'd lose money with a 5% failure rate. Manny solved the problem by vacuum packaging the steaks a second time, dropping the leaker percentage to 0.25% (.05 x .05). He doubled his packaging cost but he was the first steak cutter in the United States able to ship refrigerated vacuum packaged steaks nationwide. For those of us that remember, the primary benefactor was the Steak and Ale steakhouse chain.

And now you know....

One good jab to two real solutions is a solid/standard TexAgs rate of response. Keeps things useful but entertaining.

Give this guy a call. He supplied me with bags when I managed a slaughter-processing plant. We were looking to get printed labels on bags, but it never worked for us.

He deals with several bag manufacturers and can probably get you in the right direction.
