Planted 24 Monterrey Oaks, 25 gallon, in July near Stonewall. One croaked. Drip irrigation. Gratifying.

It wasn't the largest size, it was whatever the 2nd largest is. Planted in my backyard, so there was limited ability to fit the bigger pot through the gate.

Been buying from them for a good while. Great people and they have a great place.

That is where I bought my 22. Shan Jones retired so I don't know who is running it.
They had/have great products and don't buy cheap hybrids
Website says Lee Jones and another guy. Lee is Shan's son I believe. As stated, great folks. I taught there for 10 years. You won't find a higher concentration of great folks than there are in Utopia.

Their family ranch is what you drive through on FM 1050 going to the west out of Utopia - for about 10 miles. Fair sized ranch...

Glad his son has it. He was very helpful in 2019 when I bought.

I would caution people to go to a reputable nursery such as Blanket Creek.

Bottom feeders who sell for cheap sell inferior products. They may not be a full Monterrey Oak but rather a hybrid. Also, trees may not be resistant to all kinds of ailments. Trees are definitely you get what you pay for.

Some of the expensive nurseries/growers will have junk too. I've seen a lot of root bound material and a lot of co-dominant trunked stuff over the past 30 years. Inspect each tree before purchasing.
