Wow! First and foremost so sorry about your son. I don't know how folks like you find strength to go on with such a loss and now to hear this story. I so much agree.
When living at the ranch by Harper we had never seen any ravens or crows around the place. My dad (due to his lineage and upbringing) believed in a lot of things nature related.
I shared above what he told me he believed about ravens/crowd.
I lost my dad in 1992. My mom passed in 2016. The Sunday after my mom's funeral on Saturday I was sitting on our back porch feeling pretty low.
Our house was built on a hill overlooking our creek and bottom. I all of the sudden heard crows squawking ( they were actually ravens) and two flying side by side came flying down that creek and then they circled our house real low squawking like heck then disappeared down the creek.
I thought back on what my dad had said and just said out loud " hi mom and dad, I love and miss you both."
Now here's the crazy thing….. on various Sundays… and it only happens on Sundays….two ravens will fly down that creek, hang around the house for a few seconds, squawking like heck, then disappear down the creek.
I never saw them during the week and on no other day but Sundays.
Just coincidence? I don't know, maybe, probably, who knows?
Regardless, when I saw them, I remembered my love of my mom and dad, told them good morning, sometimes shed a tear…. and hoped they were all well and together still.
When we moved I worried about if they would still find us. I don't know but we got tons of crows around us all the time around us up here now.
I'm old, all of family gone, lots of friends gone….. my wife and I laugh and just figure now all those crows around us is all of their spirits of all of them and so we laugh and wave and say " hi" to all of them!!
Pretty dumb huh?
one safe place

Nope.

And I'm glad the older we all get the less we care about sounding dumb about things like this.

In our family it's red birds (cardinals).

My family on my mom's side has always said the same thing about cardinals. After my grandfather passed away while I was living in CS, one showed up about a week after it happened and hung out pretty much every afternoon until I moved 2 years later. No idea if it was coincidence or not, but I never really saw one around my house until after he passed.
