It's good you got the picture. Back when our kids were pre-teen to early teens, we were driving up 45 to visit family in Huntsville. Somewhere along the way I saw a roadrunner in the median and hollered out that I saw it. All I heard for the rest of the trip was "Sure, dad, was the coyote there too?" and "Honey, do you feel okay?"
Even when my wife's brothers said there were roadrunners up that way, they didn't let up. Bunch of wiseacres.

They can fly. At least a bit. Years ago I saw one in my very suburban neighborhood had one across the street. I went over to get a pic but he was having none of it. Launched and flew right over a 6 foot fence like he knew what he was doing.

I have video somewhere of one on the peak of our roof. He then glided down all the way over to the neighbor's yard.

Amazing birds.

Had one years back run right up. Not a care in the world and take a big ol dirt shower with us a few feet away. Zero cares in the world.

Back in the 90's at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch I saw a bunch of scouts surround a road runner and box it into some undergrowth around a mature mesquite tree. Or so they thought. That bird hauled butt up the sloped trunk of the tree and continued out a high branch ~8-10 feet up, spread its wings, hit a glide over the heads of some bewildered scouts, and landed on its feet at a dead sprint. GONE!

Anyone know if they share parenting? Many birds do.

How can you attract them?
