One of my friends passed away a couple weeks ago. I'm helping his widow put a list of his guns together. She's not interested in keeping them and they didn't have any kids.

Right now she is still in a little bit of shock and trying to get her life together. I told her I would circulate the list and see if anyone was interested in buying them.

Even if TexAgs doesn't end up buying any of them, could I get your help coming up with some fair pricing for them. The two guns I've seen him shoot were a Colt 1911 Officers Model and a Colt AR15. I know he has others, but I won't know until sometime next week.

I'll hopefully have the list and some photos next week.

Very sorry about your friend.

If it's a pre-ban Colt AR, first consider me first in line for very interested.

I know of a Colt AR-15 made in about 1975. I am sure owner would never sell, but I'm curious what you think it is worth.

If it's a Colts SP-1 (R6000) and between serial numbers SP0001 and SP16000 ( through 1976) …. they sold a couple this past weekend at Rock Island Auction north of $2600.00. One that had a three digit serial number went for almost double that.
If it's a carbine version SP-1 (16" barrel) add $600.00 to the above amounts.

This serial number list disagrees with your timeline, and puts it as a late 1974

What's the discrepancy?

20" barrel, BTW

$2500-3500 from my limited research. Just the SP-1 lower receivers go for around $950-1100.

My bad Canyon thought you said a 1971. ( it's been one heck of a day. )Ill add that the serial numbers of the SP's were actually serial numbered to 1985 .....Approx. SN 2116XX.
Collectors I know of the SP-1 and SP-1 Carbines pay premiums for any SP-1 serial number 1973 and below. Those at the RIA auction this past week end were such if i remember correctly
