I have the itch for a new firearm and am considering a 9mm carbine for the fun factor.

I have looked at the KelTec Sub2000 and Henry Homesteader. Any thoughts on these two? Others in that price range I should consider?

No idea on those price ranges, but the only 9mm carbine that is worth looking at is the venerable MP5.

That's right, I said it.

Ruger has several 9mm carbines, I have the 17+1 model and it shoots just fine.

I love my Sub2000, and my home built AR-9. I'm personally interested in the Stribog SP9A3 and the new Springfield Kona.

I have the Stribog and like it.

I have a Gen 2 Sub2000 and a Beretta CX4 Storm. I like them both. KelTec packs easy in a small bag or backpack. Cx4 is of higher quality and very accurate.

I have an AP5 thanks to a recommendation from this board. It is so much fun to shoot and even have a suppressor and trilug adapter for it.

The MP5 clones like the AP5 and a few others, are consistently around $1k or even cheaper. I have seen them drop to $899 on a few occasions.

I have the PSA AKV9 and it is a hoot to shoot and built like a tank. 35 round mags are cheap.

I have a Ruger PCC Takedown, boring model, and it is a lot of fun. Have had both my step grandsons and granddaughter learn to shoot on it. I lime being able to use Glock patterned mags since my everyday carry is a Glock and I am admittedly a Glock fan.
I am actually thinking about getting another one in one of the other models with a more accessory friendly profile to use as a truck gun when out and about camping. Though I really like the looks of the new Ruger LC Carbine in 10 mm too.....

I have the Keltec gen2 with a 60 round drum mag. It's fun to shoot. Fairly accurate for what it is too. And as someone mentioned above, it folds down and fits in a smallish bag

The trigger on the sub2k sucks. I have a CZ scorpion that is fun to shoot, but I just got an AKV, so selling it.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

In that price range I'd look at the S&W FPC as well. Extremely happy with mine. It's a foldable but nails when deployed.

OP...what pistol do you have the most magazines for? I would look at a PCC that accepts those magazines.

For me it was the S&W FPC since I have a few M&P pistols as well that can interchange magazines.

That's a sharp looking rifle for the price range. Gonna have to give that serious consideration

Definitely have more Glock mags than anything else, but it isn't like I have 25+ of them. So not necessarily a big deal. Also have a couple M&Ps

I started down this rabbit hole and also recently discovered the Extar EP9. Have only read/watched very positive reviews. Availability appears to be the main problem...

I an AR9 that i built up using a standard AR lower, 9mm upper receiver and barrel. I use ExoMag from Mean arms. Runs great with a 9mm buffer.

But it is direct blowback. If you can get a PCC with radial delay, that is the way to go for the smoothest shooting 9mm.

OP are you only considering 9mms with 16" barrels?

If you're open to using a brace or paying unconstitutional taxes the world becomes your oyster real quick when it comes to 9mm pccs/carbines.

Bought a Freedom Ordnance FX9 (with pistol brace) off a user on here and threw a CMC single stage trigger and a can on and its awesome! ran it in a run n gun this weekend that was PCC only and it performed flawlessly.

APC9 and JP-9 would like to have a word with you...

I have all 3 (well, SP5) and rank them JP-9 > APC9 > SP5. But that's a bit of an apples/oranges comparison as my JP-5 isn't a SBR or pistol. They are all nice...which is why I have all 3 lol

In the OPs price range though...has Stribog got their stuff together nowadays?

I put an integrated suppressor on my CZ Scorpion Micro and it so quiet. I don't even need subsonic rounds. I had a binary on it but it got way too expensive.

I'll 2nd (or 3rd) the S&W FPC, reliable performer, decent trigger, side folding, so your optic can remain on the gun. Comes with a nice soft case, extra magazines.
Running a Hybrid 46 on mine, working on reloads that are subsonic. Factory 147's routinely go supersonic.

Yeah, my AP5 is probably the only gun that doesn't have a true purpose besides Merica

It's awesome and I love it though!

You can get two, maybe three Hipoint carbines for the cost the others you mentioned. Mine is (was, before the boat capsized) fun and accurate enough. 10 rd mag is a drawback, but 20 rd is available.

Flux Raiders seem pretty cool. That's the direction I'm likely going. It's not technically a PCC but it provides much of the same capability.

Lookup MechTech, you'll need a Glock, xd, or 1911 lower but it's a really fun plinker(especially if you get the 33 rd mags and drum mags. Get the quad rail and you can customize it as much as an AR!

But those guns are just hideous.

I said what I said - MP5 (or a clone). I will die on this hill.

My first gun (when I was stupid and didn't know anything about guns) was a High Point that my brother-in-law's dad sold me for double what it was worth.

The only thing that it was good for was pistol whipping somebody.

Once I learned more about guns, I gave that thing to a friend who liked to take apart things and put them back together. He eventually took it apart and threw it away.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.
