Jest went to take a shower and there's no hot water…. Hot water works everywhere else, including sink in same bathroom. Don't see signs of leak anywhere.

What could this be from? Clog in pipe? Worn out internals in faucet handle? FWIW, it's an individual handle for cold and hot.

Great. Guessing I'll have to go to a single handle?

Cold plunge is supposed to be good for you. Just do it.

If you have the old 3 handle shower you can still replace the cartridge or valve stem. Probably a price pfister if it's old. Home Depot usually has the parts.

No water from hot side or no hot water from the hot side?

Take a pic of it and send to these folks:

https://www.faucetparts-tx.com/

They have a number you can text pic to.

From what their TV commercials say, they can get the parts for any faucet and help you with how to fix it.

My water heater's have a shut valve on them. Little 3x3" square thing. They have a magnet on the bottom. They sit on the top of the water heater. If you have one replaced the three double A's….punch the button.

Yep, cut off water to house, or past water heater if you can isolate just the hot feed, drain off the water from the pipes, pull off the lnob, undo the valve cap, and pull the cartridge. Get a new one matching it at hardware store, reverse process.

Plenty of YouTube videos showing how.

Did you give it long enough to run the cold water out and get the hot water there?

Could be frozen. Is the feed on an outside wall? Cold weather this week!

I doubt it's frozen in 42 degree weather

There are fewer parts to fail with a mixing valve, but you'll have to replace the mixing valve cartridge every few years. If you do this, go with Delta. Their mixing valve cartridges are the least expensive to replace.

Depending on what make of cartridge you have, it may be designed to not allow any flow from either side if there is no pressure from one side (this is a safety feature). If one side is clogged or turned off, you get nothing. I know Delta is this way. If you haven't replaced your cartridge in more than 4-5 years, there is a high likelihood that is the issue.

What manufacturer do you have?

I believe American standard. And there is water coming out of cold side, sorry if my message was misleading

Start loosening the stem on the hot side with the water on. And see if any water starts to come out of it. If so, that tells you that stem is broken. I'm assuming you have hot water at other fixtures nearby?

Yes I do. How do I get the faucet handle off?

Take the screw out that holds the handle on. If you can't see a screw at the end, there's probably a little round cap. It may say H on it pop that off or whatever the tap is on the end and there should be a screw underneath it unless you have a more modern one and there's an Allen set screw on the side or bottomof the handle somewhere

I tried popping the cap off with a knife and while I did cut myself, I did not get the cap off. Doesn't seem like it's made to come off. But this house is old so no telling how long they've been on there… may just be stuck. It's those old clear round handles

It's probably just "glued" on with water and soap deposits.

Is it like this:

Post some pics of the faucet and handles in question. Will be a lot easier to help you if we can see what you are looking at.
