Selling some guns for a family member. I have to do some research on prices - as I'm not familiar with older guns like most of these. I don't want to register on Gunbroker and put my phone #, so that's a no-go.

I will eventually sell most - and maybe keep 1 or 2. Will either sell on here via FFL - will be in Texas the 3rd week of March - haven't sold across state lines in person(only ever shipped via FFL), so will do whatever is legal if face to face in Texas.

Where would be the best place to get an idea of value?

Here are the 8 I will eventually sell / maybe keep 1-2:

1. Marlin 336 30-30 JM stamped on the right side

2. Remington Speedmaster Model 552 shoots .22 short, long, and LR

3. Ruger M77 30-06

4. Mossberg model 9200 12 gauge semiautomatic

5. Winchester Model 37 12 gauge

6. Winchester Model 37 16 gauge

7. Remington Model 550-01 .22 LR, short, long

8. Remington 878 semi auto 12 gauge

I'm trying to determine prices on these - as mentioned, I don't know much about older guns.

I'm just going to look at Gunbroker and see what others are asking (for hopefully the same gun in similar condition) - I'll post prices on a new thread once I find out more details. Or, if anyone has guidance on some of these.

Gunbroker sellers are mainly dealers and are inflated prices. Suggest going to Guns International, Gunrunner etc for more realistic pricing.
Or…..Go to a Barnes Nobles or another good book store and pick up a current Blue Book of Gun Values. It's a good reference place to start. Keep in mind its values are based on data they gather from sales, estate auctions, sales at gun shows and so on. ….and are retail pricing. Use it in conjunction with real selling prices from GI.etc.
It's hard to give true values on firearms by looking at a couple of pictures. They need to be closely examined to evaluate finish of the steel, furniture, correct lock up, bore condition etc. to give accurate pricing.

Interested in the 30-30 as well once you have a price, but I am in south Nashville so we can keep it in state. :-)

I've got some tentative prices (thanks, Gunny) - I'm going to review each firearm when I get home tonight (to make sure I have the correct model # and an accurate value). I'll then create a new post hopefully tomorrow with prices, etc.

As I understand it, when I'm in Texas, if I sell to anyone there, I'll have to meet at an FFL for someone to purchase. Let me know if I'm wrong. Or, I can always ship from here on the buyers dime.

I'm not sure either. Maybe someone more knowledgeable can answer (Eyeguy?).

I, of course, just want to do what is legal.

I'm interested in the Speedmaster if the first poster falls through and pricing is reasonable.

Zooguy. Unless something has changed….If these firearms are of your private collection and are not any NFA items, it's my understanding that you can legally bring them to Texas to sell. It is no different than bringing them to a gun show in Texas and doing private collection sales at your own table.
It's totally your choice to run them through a FFL if it makes you feel more comfortable but I don't think it's legally required.
Surely some experts on here can chime in. Maybe Yesterday or Eyeguy or Aggiehawg?
