Snowed all night in SW Houston (Willowbend area just S of Meyerland). Per wunderground, we got an inch in about an hour from 7 - 8 this morning.

Still not what I think of when I hear blizzard. I'd say we're up to about 5 or 6 inches of snow and it's blowing sideways. It's definitely strange. Still more to come.

Blizzard is based more on visibility than anything. We lived in Denver for three years and only had one blizzard warning our entire time there.

"Officially, the National Weather Service defines a blizzard as a storm which contains large amounts of snow OR blowing snow, with winds in excess of 35 mph and visibilities of less than 1/4 mile for an extended period of time (at least 3 hours)."

8 inches at our house now in Lake Charles. Chihuahua wanted no sweater, hated it. The 2 border collies, loved it. Chihuahua was only outside for a minute.

stopped snowing already
still cloudy but space city weather says gonna clear out and get to around 38

friend sent video from where they live on the beach in pensacola and its snowing there and sticking so far.

certainly some crazy snow across LA

Gosh I can only imagine how cold it was on that air boat in the snow. Several years ago I worked on a wetland delineation project on an island in the Gulf and we rode airboats to the island each morning at daylight in 30 degree weather. That airboat sucks every ounce of heat from your body. I've never been so glad to get in the water during the winter time as I was then just so I could get my blood flowing again and partially warm up.

NOLA got more snow today than every previous year through 1948, COMBINED. Fun stuff!
