I was wanting to add cup style QD for a sling. My larue has no attachment points on the forearm. It then occurs to me that they have little covers on the handguard that are screwed in with a hex screw. What kind of "style" is this? LaRue sells a specific QD for this but it's kinda steep. So, I was hoping to find something elsewhere. What style of mount do I need to make this happen? I'm used to M lock and key of, but I don't know what the LaRue is. Any tips?

What specific larue model do you have? PredatAR?

If it has a full length 1913 top rail, a mount that attaches to 1913 and has the qd attachment on the side should work.

Yes. That's the rifle. Thanks for the info! I may have one in my "gun junk drawer" from a defunct project but I was hoping to attach to the otherwise unused part of the hand guard. Here is the product they sell, and you can see the hex screw and the little covers. Are the proprietary?

I have something like this mounted on a 1913 top rail and it works fine. There are others for cheaper on Amazon.

It is proprietary as far as I know, along with the method used to attach the handguard to the upper.

The one 3rdGenAg05 posted would be an option,as would this.

You can get 3" rail pieces to go in place of the grip panels. The design is to prevent chewing up your hands/gloves or getting something snagged on rail edges. Why buy the rifle at all if it is an undesirable feature?

yes, the rifles come with those (PredatOBR's, anyway). still annoying have have to have an extra connection and seems like a solution to a problem that is not that material. yet i still have 3 of them.
