Could you fine gentleman help me out with aging another deer?

Interesting jaw. Left side shows more wear than right side Right lends to 3.5. But Left leans to 4.5.
Go with older side.
I say 4.5.

Would these be considered acorn type tips? What causes it? Injury during velvet?

Yes sir. The most common thought reason is that the buck jams his antlers into a tree trunk or such and it damages the tips while still growing and in soft velvet growth….. then it continues growing and thus gives the acorn appearance.
However there has been evidence of bucks that antlers do this in consecutive years and some biologist think it could in fact be genetics.
Yet still some think that it's caused by a cut or injury while in velvet and an infection sets in from parasites causing it.
My personal opinion is it is due to the buck injuring the tips and then it heals and keeps growing but leaves the acorn shape where it healed up.
Perhaps some other guys here on the OB can comment as well on this.

My opinion of the teeth show 4.5-5.5, but the amount of mass to the tips and burrs on the bases indicate it is older.

If this buck was eating alot of protein pellets, then his teeth will have less wear than a deer that is grazing off of the ground more.

Either way, this is a good one to take. It may have developed a kicker or more mass, but most likely would have been a main frame 8 for the rest of his days.

It is a cool buck. I like the mass and the acorns on each tine.
I grew up hunting in Refugio. I sure do miss that county.

Agree with damage during growth, but whatever it is we need more of it.

Haha. Maybe we can put some type of structures in the pastures that they will bang their heads against.
Kinda like a scratching post for a cat.

They have those fly bags that hang across a gate. Maybe it needs to be heavier.
