Interesting. Any idea what BTUs those put out? Emissions? They also seem tiny - they're advertised for heating a car, which is much smaller than even a room, and even with that small a space they burn 1 gallon diesel per night.

Or am I missing something?
The one I linked is good to 270 ft2. My super uses one in his RV at deer camp out near Sonora and says it has no problem heating it and keeping it warm all night long.

A gallon of diesel is pretty efficient. My predator 3500 will use about 1.5-2 gallons of gas over an 8-10 hour period overnight with a medium load.

I'm betting they make bigger ones. But for the purposes of heating a room, its a pretty solid option IMO. 270 ft2 would be a pretty substantial bedroom or living room. Except on texags of course.

I agree. I would add that consideration might need to be given as to what else is going on in the bedroom that would generate heat.

They do while running at load, but the start up and shut down is supposed to still be bad for sensitive electronics which is one of the reasons you start/stop unloaded

Other tip if it gets real cold for an extended period of time is to set up a tent inside your "warm" room. Much easier to heat up a small sleeping space.

As an FYI for folks with natural gas furnaces without a whole home or 220v genny. Most furnaces are 110v power. You can get a 50amp generator inlet (with interlock preferably) installed, then buy a hots bridged adapter for it. Note if you have multi-wire branch circuits (shared neutrals) you risk overloading your neutral if you get a big 110v generator. I ran my whole home's central heat on a 3kw honda during the last freeze. Was great.

For OP, buy kerosene heaters or run a buddy heater in the smallest room you have (make sure you get a CO sensor). Put mattresses on the floor if you need to. Don't think you are supposed to burn your gas range on your stove, doesn't burn clean enough IIRC

Was in Tractor Supply today... 5 gallon can of kerosene was $50!!
I'll stick with propane, for emergency heat.

And to think when I was a kid my dad would pay 10 cents a gallon for it.

Sad kerosene and diesel were the "trash" byproducts of refining back in the day.

$999 shipped...looks like a good deal, but this one has aluminum generator windings, are they common these days? Their "DX" version comes with copper windings.
