Not sure where else to post this, and we often discuss beef prices on this forum, so I'll give it a shot. We still have plenty of eggs at my local HEB in Magnolia, but the prices are waaaay up. Where are you guys finding the best egg prices, other than your own backyard chickens?

Aldi, if you have one nearby…? $2.50-$3 for a dozen.

I usually get the Eggsland Best 18 pack of large eggs. At my local Krogers they are $5.19 and HEB across the street is $7.92 for same thing. It might be the only thing Kroger is cheaper on than HEB, but eggs are pretty consistently cheaper there. Tomorrow when I go to HEB, they might be 6 bucks again, they literally change their prices daily. If your not in TX, sorry, this probably doesn't help you much.

Edit to add. IF you have a Kroger near by, their eggs prices across any brand or kroger brand cannot be beat. Sometimes volume buying just can't be beat, and kroger and eggs is probably the best at this being one of if not largest national chain. Dozen large for 2.49 and xl for 2.69 kroger brand currently. Hard to beat that right now.

Got any Amish in your area? We get ours from them. $2.00 per dozen…… They are not extra large but larger than large size.

Costco

Costco is a good place to buy eggs. If you can afford it, pay for the organic eggs. They have been shown to be significantly higher Omega 3 fatty acids.

Ralph's in San Diego is $6.99 for a dozen

I can buy two dozen of the same quality from Costco for $5.99

Friday a dozen of large at Lowes in George West was a five dollar bill.

Our area (B-CS) HEB's carry Kieke Eggs, from Burton Tx. Thursday the jumbo version were $3.28/dz.
Across the size spectrum, cheaper than the HEB brand.

I bought 18 extra large eggs at heb a week ago and it was 6 dollars and change. I didn't pay attention at the cooler, but was surprised when checking out. Wondered if there was a bird illness going through the large hen house operations. Something similar was going on a few years ago when egg prices went up.

The bird flu has been going around this year and the government has been killing millions of chickens. Some turkeys too. They aren't done either.

We've been buying the 5 dozen egg carton at Costco for a while now. Over Christmas we ended up not needing a Costco trip for a while so we stocked up on 18 HEB organic eggs for a much higher price ($7.99 maybe?). Went to Costco today and decided to try their organics because the HEB ones were better eggs than the 5 dozen pack.

$7.49/two dozen vs $18.49/five dozen is only a nickel more per dozen for the Kirkland organics. The price on the 5 dozen carton has gone up considerably recently.

The HEB were still better eggs, but their price doesn't compare.

Our local farmers market selling Dozen free range eggs for $2.50 a dozen. They also sell Duck eggs. Dozen of Duck Eggs is $4.75. We buy both and works out well by supporting local businesses.
