Canyon.....sometime back a OP was looking for a wood airplane prop for a Christmas present. In that thread I had said that I had an old Curtis Jenny prop in my garage. I did not know how to post a pic so you asked me to send it to you and you would post. I finally manned up and got a star so I could post pics. I know you like old airplane stuff as much as I so I wanted to post a pic of it. It's around 8' long. It was on a Curtis JN-4 (Jenny) circa 1915.

Now that you both have stars you can Private Message him!

These wooden props are very collectible and can be quite expensive.

Thank you for the tip on PM. I did not know that. Also thanks for the link on the props. Much appreciated.
Roger that on tenuous. I'm an old but still trying to learn. Trying to " Not let the old man in".
But I think he's got the screen door open.

Ha. I think I'm more tenuous than tenacious at this point in my life.

Thanks for the heads up.

That thing is a work of art. Put me on the list of "interested if you ever want to sell it".

That is very cool!

I give you my word that I'll only get in touch with you first. I'll also tell the wife if something happens to me.
Do you think I should leave it just as it is or try restoring it any. I'm thinking maybe just keeping it clean and some furniture oil on it from time to time. Thoughts?
TIA

Don't restore. I'd consult with wood experts or museum conservators before I treated it.

And I appreciate the consideration, but if a family member or museum is interested, I'm happy with that. Would just like for it to be preserved and appreciated, regardless of who possesses it.

Got it. And I will do that. Thank you sir.

I put mine on the wall. Drill a pipe fitting into the studs.

Yeah, I know most wives would not approve of it in the house, but a constant temperature and humidity would be better for it.

My Dad had a super cub and later a 180 that he kept in a hangar on our grass farm strip. I'd love to find a prop from a cub to buy. Any ideas on finding a real survivor?

Hard to find. The only wooden prop I've seen in the last few years have either been non-flyable reproductions, or WWII drone props.

Thanks. I'm going to call my Dads friend he sold the cub to when he bought his 180 and see if he possibly knows where it could be. And go look around in the old hangar good for the memories.

Early Super Cubs had wood props and 180's had metal. Later on Super Cubs had metal. Do you want a wood or metal?

Thanks. It was in my uncle's barn. The story goes it's from a plane that crashed landed on the ranch back in the day.

*My wife loves it. Put yours in your office or man cave.

It's in my enclosed shop that's well insulated but temps do fluctuate and I would think humidity too. So I'm going to heed what you and Canyon say and find a place in the house for it.
I'm lucky ( blessed) as the bride is a pilot as well and likes old airplanes and stuff too.

Roger that. Cool story too. Don't you wish it could talk!

I was looking at your mount…..so you used a pipe flange fitting…correct? What size pipe is that?
Thanks.
