I'm looking for a used or damaged wood airplane propeller (not a replica)
It would be a Christmas gift for a family member who is a pilot.
I'm in Bryan, Tx but would be willing to drive a reasonable distance to get one.

I've looked for these before with little luck. Real wooden props are pretty rare these days and hard to find.

Good luck. I casually searched for many, many years before scoring a decent deal on craigslist. I live in the air capital of the world, and even here they are not common. Scour Craigslist, Facebook market, perhaps eBay. If I see anything in my aviation sites I'll pass a link too.

You can drive to Port Aransas and go to the intersection of Avenue G & N Station Street. Go one block north on Station and there is a junky airboat with a wooden prop on the west side of the street that hasn't moved in at least ten years.

I went to the airplane graveyard up by Terrell Texas many years back when I was working on a restoration. An old man drove in the place with a trailer full of old aircraft parts. On the trailer was a wooden prop that he said came off a Curtis Jenny in 1919. He said he had had it hanging in his barn for over 60 years. I bought it from him on the spot for $100 bucks cash. It is about almost eight feet long and is hanging in my shop now.......almost perfect condition considering its age. If it could only talk............I would post a picture if I knew how.

Did you try Sensenich propellers as I posted on your other post? I was safety officer for the Alamo Wing of the CAF and we had a small museum at our local FBO at Cannon Field. They had a rep who lived in SA and he told me that from time to time they would get wooden props in to do airworthiness inspections on.... and that if they failed the inspection they could not send them back out and had to dispose of them. That was about 6 years ago so I dont know if that is still what they do now or not.

There is a guy on lake limestone that builds them. He might have some used ones.

Apparently it's not that easy to find an authentic wooden airplane prop
I am keeping an eye on Craigslist and Facebook marketplace, so hopefully one will pop up on there.
I also emailed sensenich propellers to ask about old props or ones that did not meet their specs, but I did not hear back from them.
I had a guy message me about a wooden airboat prop that was authentic, but I really would like to find one off of an airplane.
So, if any of y'all have an authentic wooden prop or know someone with one that they would sell, please let me know.
