Anyone tuck/semi tuck your suppressor under the handguard on your builds? I am considering about 3 inches of the suppressor tucked on a 300BLK pistol I have. Pistol will be a dedicated suppressor host. I understand heat might be an issue but with subs (mostly) and not just mag dumping into trash, what say you?

I've got mine tucked a good bit and never have had heat issues. Hand guard is carbon fiber though so prob doesn't get as hot. Shoot supers exclusively

i had a similar set up with my 300 blackout. only reason i went away from it at the time was i only had one suppressor and was always swapping between different host. which lead me going qd mount on the suppressor. but if i would have had a dedicated suppressor i would still have the set up.

MCX Virtus with a little over 5" of suppressor under the rail:

The can goes to the back of the handbrake

MCX Rattler with about 3" tucked:

Have not had issues with heat on either gun.

Have a 5.56 SBR with all but 2" tucked. It will get hot if shooting multiple mags quickly. Keep some tacticool gloves in case with it when shooting a lot but not an issue with "normal" use.

I run mine this way on the blackout. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic handy… after the boating accident and all

Why supers only through a suppressor? Just curious here.

Understand that! Even the "Range" 300BLK subs are spendy.

Yeah I have a hard time spending $1/rd to shoot pigs. These have performed really well for me so far, probably 20 pigs, a handful of coyotes, and a couple bobcats

For those running SBR/Pistol 300BLK...what is your preferred gas set up? Adjustable gas block? Buffer weight?

This is a new build and right now it has an H3 buffer, standard gas block and I am trying our the FM adjustable bolt carrier (unsuppressed and suppressed setting on BCG)

I didn't have to do anything to mine and it cycles fine, AGB would probably smooth out recoil a little, but I'm lazy

I have an adjustable setup and Ive never had any issues. For the 300BLK dont overthink it. The only issue I ever had was with one of my barrels. The gas port was too small so I drilled it out and has been great since. It was a ballistic advantage barrel

Sorry....I'm confused still. Why even have the suppressor then?

Are you asking what the point of a suppressor is if you are shooting supersonic ammo?

It's still significantly quieter. Pigs will still run when one in group is shot w/ a subsonic… a bullet cracking a skull or thumping a lung is loud enough to run the rest off. Plus, if you are shooting at running pigs with subsonic sit is a lot harder to lead them because the bullet is moving so slow and drops so fast.

Piggy backing on this. I just finished my suppressed 300 blk pistol(adj block) and am going to try and run both supers and subs.

This is my first go with this caliber… are the AAC super and Hornady sub boxes in this thread the go to? I'm trying to get a feel for what to buy.

For subs I didnt like the Hornady Sub-X. Just didnt expand enough compared with others. I think I have 4 boxes left that I use for zeroing if I am messing with things and need to get it close. Its always good to start out with different flavors because your setup might like one vs the others much better. Shoot different things and then have a goto that your gun likes.

You have a ton of options with 300blk ammo depending on what you want to do with it and what price youre willing to pay.

I really like ammo using the Barnes 110gr Tac-Tx bullet as a supersonic defensive load.

Sub-X actually did great in my barrier penetration testing, and is widely available.

Discrete Ballistics and Phantom Defense are both making really interesting 300blk loads in super and subsonic loadings, but $$$.

Any of the 140ish-150ish grain loads you can find are decent enough for plinking with.

Just curious…why does the Virtus have two red dots? I haven't seen that before.

One for shooting supers and one for shooting subs. Two different zeros

Perfect, thanks! I'll head to sheels next weekend and see what my options are. I'm going to buy a few different boxes and see what happens.

Its fairly common in competition to make barrier work easier, but in my case its because I break things.

I really like Eotechs for a lot of reasons, especially for use with NV, and this is one of my go to NV guns. But after breaking an eotech on this gun, I decided that if I'm going to have back up sights on a NV gun, another dot makes more sense for me than irons.

Some people do that. Both of my dots are zerod for 110 tac-tx and I just know my holds for subs.
