Interesting, I've had the opposite experience with my Oboz. They've done great hiking in Golden Trout Wilderness and the Wind River Range. Probably have 130 miles on them so far with no significant wear.

I've been very happy with my Schnee's. I got the Beartooth 0g for my everyday boot. They aren't too hot during the summer and are good for most of the winter in Montana. I have a pair of 1200g LaSportivas for when we get down into the single digits or lower.

My only complaint with the Schnee's is the insoles suck. Had to replace them within a year.

Evidently Solomon got bought out by a Chinese org around Covid and quality went downhill fast. I have a 15 yr old pair that I need to replace and there's horror stories about them falling apart since 2021.

Mentioned above already...Lowe Renegades is the way to go. I lived over in Scotland and wore these daily for hikes with the dog. Scarpa Mantas if the conditions got really ****ty.
