Saw one in Panola County this morning. Thought that was strange

Had one in my backyard in Williamson Co the other day.

I had the first county record for Wood County in 2017 and saw one in Red River County north of Clarksville, TX but couldn't photograph it.

ugh oh. better keep an eye on your calves ass holes and eyeballs.

Although we might be in their range, I never saw one in West Houston until the last 10-15 years or so. I see them all the time now.

I see them in Lavaca county all the time

Traveling all over the state doing biological/ecological work… their range is the entire state during different times of the year.

Yes, I know I posted Williamson Co too, but at least it's close to the edge on that graphic.

Same. and the ones i see are usually having dinner with our native vultures.

I wonder what keeps them out of far West Texas?

We have them in Erath county. Showed up maybe 10 years ago and have been around ever since.

We see them in far west Texas regularly.

Looks like there is a dashed line on that map indicating an extended range.

We have quite a few on the Western Slopes of Bugtussle.

Looks like I saw a bit of an outlier. I wish I had gotten a picture. He was right by the road

Maybe less available territories, with all the other raptors. Also, I would think less road kill or other carrion, than in areas with more busy roads in the east.

I remember that seeing one was a huge deal as a kid growing up in S Texas (Laredo). Like Whitewing dove, they have slowly migrated North, I see them in Houston area frequently, along with Bald Eagles in the suburbs S of Houston.

Plenty of them in Leon county

We have them in Brazos County

Yeah white wings have expanded big time too

they are like grackles these days here in frio county

I doubt that's it. There's a deer a night at least. Jackrabbits galore. I haven't seen one yet in crockett county (not city). Last year we had a big gully washer that washed out a lot of fish, the vultures moved in. They CRAPPED all over everything. They peck/chew at anything possible. If you thought hogs were bad, I'll trade you vultures

There was nothing you could do to get a full flock of vultures to move along until they just did. Guess they got hungry after their feast of rotten fish ran out

Just saw one this morning in Orange County. I'll see them occasionally, so they've made it pretty far east.

I was driving in South Texas last week and saw huge clouds of them, near powerline towers where they roost, circling in several areas. Had to have been in the hundreds of them. Saw it in Hebbronville, Falfurrous and Kingsville. Almost like they were "swarming" for some reason.
