Anyone have any good recommendations on ways to control coyotes?
I've lost 3-4 fawns this year plus one Oryx. Never see the damn things except on game cameras.
Only 270 acres of high fence, and I'm constantly working on holes under fences but they are squeezing in through culverts and other tiny openings.

Trap them and shoot everyone you see that didn't get caught. Either that or get rid of their food source.

This is the correct answer. Hit up snareshop.com, watch some videos on setting snares and get to work. Predator hunting is my favorite type of hunting, but a call and a gun will not get you very far.

Yep, I'm not a big fan of snares, but if I had the same problem I would put one at every single hole in the fence I found.

Is it best to snare holes or cover them up? I've always wondered this

Our landowner snared them and usually would catch pigs or yotes regularly at those spots. I think fixing as many as you can and then leave a few sacrificial ones that have a lot of activity and tracks, ready to go with a snare, is a good approach. At least until you feel confident they're aren't any coyotes that you inadvertently trapped inside the high fence… of course they're probably always going to dig and make new holes.

I have to be careful with snares because the neighbor dogs come through same holes. They don't bother my deer or oryx.

Snare the holes under the fence. Learn how to spring your snares and make a loop about 8-10" in diameter, try to keep the bottom of the loop an inch or two off the ground. Do not try to make your snare size match the hole size, if the hole is large fill it in along the edges to be about 10" wide. If the hole size is smaller than your loop don't worry about it, keep an 8 or 9" loop and you'll be fine. Tie off your swivel about two feet up from the ground on the fence where the wires cross and make a T. I tie my snares off about as far away from the hole as possible. Check your snares at least once per day (I usually check in the morning and mid afternoon), sometimes you don't get a neck catch, but instead a foot or hip catch.

I wager many more dogs will get snared than coyotes

A coyote(s) killed an Oryx? That seems questionable.
