Have two rifles I'd like to have rebarreled. One is a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight 22-250, all factory. The other is a 6.5x284 converted from a Remington 700 Mountain Rifle LS Long Action 30-06. I've used Alamo Precision for a few things, and they've been great, but at the time they were snowed under and didn't want to mess with the rebarrels.

Looking for a reference to quality gunsmith somewhere in north DFW if possible. I'm in the McKinney/Prosper area. Thanks!

Curtis Helton (972) 740-0108

He's worked on two rifles for me and did a fantastic job. I believe he is in the Addison area.

Alamo Precision is the best option. Best to order now for next season.

Mostek made a barrel for me. You ship them your action and they will make and headspace everything for you.

My first choice would be APR as well.

Curtis Helton is in Allen I think. I've heard good things.

I've heard good things about S&S Precision in Denton.

I've used McClelland's in Garland but not for a new barrel.

I have heard good things about Panther City Firearms in Ft Worth.

If you didn't know already, Shilen barrels are built in Ennis. They might be worth a call.

I have used Cajun Gunsmith in Plano recently to have a barrel threaded for a suppressor. They did excellent work, got it done quickly and were a pleasure to deal with. I believe the guy I spoke with was Michael McCoy. I would use them again.
So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

I have also used Cajun Gunworks. Great customer service.

I have also used Cajun but not for a bolt action rifle barrel.

They did do a good job fixing the mag feed ramp on my kimber montana, though.

I was impressed that they really did not have experience but did the google work to figure out how to resolve it and then implemented that learning well on the first try.

I used them a few times prior and have had nothing but positive results.

I just wasnt sure about the barrel job.
