My daughter is turning 7 this weekend and I'd like to get her a 22LR. I'm pretty set on either a bolt or lever action with iron sights and a threaded barrel for a suppressor. I'd also prefer it to be lighter rather than a dedicated bench type 22. It looks like my best option is probably a Ruger American, but I didn't know if I'm over looking other rifles.

Also, what 22 can should I be looking at? I've shot a CGS hydra and it was nice, but I'm not sure how the Rugged or some other brands stack up.
