Lady May got spayed (6 month old golden retriever) and headed back to get staples out tomorrow.

Just noticed swelling/lump beside the incision. Feels like fluid to me and she doesn't show any signs of distress. Doesn't look like an emergency situation to me so thinking we'll wait until normal vet visit already scheduled for tomorrow. Mrs wants a more professional opinion… thoughts?

That's gonna be fine, your vet can evaluate it tomorrow….

My dog was spayed 9 years ago and has had a similar knot by the incision the entire time.

In my minimally trained ambulance driver, it looks like a clean incision with no obvious signs of infection. Is the area around incision hot to the touch? Does the dog let you touch the area or resist?

thanks for the quick replies.

yes she lets us touch it.. not warm and she pretends like it's a normal belly rub.. I'll let you know what vet says tomorrow.

as payment, here's a pic of her with Rev.

xray confirmed no hernia - just some blood. they drained it and told us to try and keep her calm for another week and they'd take another look.

super easy to keep a 6 month old golden calm. but thankful no hernia!
