Watched a video the other day on how to clean a shotgun to see if I'm doing it differently than others. At any rate the video I watched recommended a dry oil to spray into the action and trigger assembly. I've always used wet oil and wondered if I'm behind the times. Is there a dry oil you all recommend?

Is that considered a dry oil? Reading through it seems like it, too, is a wet oil.

Probably a dry lube, similar is effect of lubricants used for four wheeler chains or bike chains. Personally, I don't subscribe to any fancy stuff. I've got shotguns from 1934 that are before YouTube and lubricant technologies today and they are in beautiful condition. In fact, they were probably oiled with SAE 30 motor oil, had gasoline jammed down the barrels with wire brushes and tossed in closets. Run CLP on a bore snake, use the same to wipe down the outside, and call it a day.

That's how we always did it for years does not necessarily mean the best way. Just like the new cool thing does not necessarily mean the best way.

Hornady One Shot Cleaner and Lube is a nice product. (Don't confuse it with One Shot CASE lube, which is for reloading).

It cleans like a solvent, when you spray it on, but the carrier fluid evaporates quickly, leaving a lubricating "dry film", that also protects from corrosion. Leaves the faintest "waxy" look, but almost undetectable, unlike some other "dry lubes" I've tried (hardware store) which leave an obvious white film.

Since it "dries", it won't attract dust/grit, like putting regular "oil" in your trigger group.

I purchased some Otis Dry Lube today. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
