I just started my research on this. Has anyone used it?
Standley Feed in Madisonville sells it so I asked Jim. He's getting some numbers and requirements together for me.
Issues : Expense of the feed. Apparently you are required to take a class before buying and using it. I'm not finding where to take the class or from who. No info on the Grimes County site. Gonna call and see what I can find. You need specialized feeders for it. Not sure on cost.

Reading the link, I agree.

But you still need the underlying Texas Private Applicator's License.

I suggest anyone interested go obtain that, first. It is useful for a lot of other products, too.

Have that and actually also need CEUs for renewal in 2025. So the course would have merit.

Found the course, but I doubt it counts for CEU's.

I had a Kaput rep stop by and pitch it to me. The initial cost to treat a section of land was going be around $22-23K in year 1. The costs go down after year 1 as feeder costs are not annual expense.

The process sounded incredibly labor & time intensive so there wasn't a way I could justify implementing this practice.

I talked with some wildlife biologists who were involved with the studies and were supportive of the practice and it not being a detriment to non-target species (one of my main concerns). But all agreed it was an expensive and labor intensive practice.

It is a tool in our management toolbox but not an end all, be all. I believe many people were expecting a silver bullet (so to speak) to manage the hog problem. That doesn't exist in nature, there are no simple, easy solutions to managing/mitigating natural resource issues . . .
