My wife and I are taking a trip to Scotland the end of August/beginning September next year. We'll spend several days in Edinburgh and in Inverness. I'd like to take at least one day fishing for browns there, and perhaps salmon. Any folks with experience and perhaps guide recommendations for those areas?

I fished with Dave Downie several years ago for trout and grayling. I think he may still guide at least part time if you contact him. I was new to fly fishing but caught some browns and a big grayling.

We have some dear friends from Scotland that still maintain a residence there, spend July to Aug, there every year. They come back to states to miss all of the Really Bad weather from Sept to Spring. Is Sept when you want to be there/???

Following....going early next summer. Spending some time in the Cainrgorns which is probably where we'll look to fish.

Sept is hit or miss....we were there for a 9 days in Sept in '23 and only had about 2 hours of rain....got lucky with the midges as well!

Lived in NE Scotland for work from 2014-2019. Scotland is great in September and not bad weather at all. Mostly low 40s in the mornings to low 60s in the afternoon. You might catch a day of frost if a front comes through. Still about 12 hours of daylight every day. towards the end of October is when it really starts to cool down and start getting darker.

Spent a week in the Cairngorms this past September. It was hot and dry. Don't have much to add. Just wanted to brag that I was in Scotland
The last thing I want to do is hurt you. But, it's still on the list.
