Had an amazing two full days of fishing and food/lodging at Saltgrass. Chef on site to prepare all meals, with Chief telling all the stories. Capt Raymond is hilarious (at least he was when he was guiding us and making jokes about my friends fishing habits).

Just went two weeks ago.
Blake and Bailey are awesome.
They have a couple of brand new house boats we stayed in.
Blake was our offshore guide. We caught a couple of swordfish.
Our inshore guide...can't remember his name...put us on the specs and redfish.
Bailey is a hell of a cook.
Highly recommended.

EFE - I was looking at the website for Venice Fishing Lodge. I noticed that they have 8 rooms for up to 20 people. Do you know if they put different groups of clients in the same room ?

Don't know about them. Cajun Fishing Adventures has a really big great room with separate big dining room. All the rooms are separate bedrooms that open to that great room. Really nice. I have been there for work and it was good.

You won't be disappointed.

A general question for those that fished in Venice. Do most of the trout tend to run right at the minimum legal limit ? The last 2 times I was at Hackberry Lodge in Calcasieu, most of the trout were in the 12 - 14 inch range.

Woodland Plantation. Mostly a fly fisherman spot but I've done Venice inshore from there. Tell Foster what you're looking to do and he'll make it happen. Little bit of a drive to Venice but it's a great place to stay.

We've always gone with a big group of 10+, but I can't remember any of our crew getting mixed with other groups. IHIOGA that an Aggie/NFL type that frequents TA has fished out of this lodge a few times and may have taken my money at a poker table one night, so you never know who you might see.

Fish intimidator is a good one too

John is your offshore guy for sure, not sure if he's even doing inshore stuff anymore, and OP is looking for trout/reds. But super dude, and damn good at what he does, which is put you on fish offshore.

Inshore, lots of good recs here, Randazzo or Mike Frenette at Redfish Lodge are hard to beat.
