cubed points made me stop applying for almost everything due to the terrible odds now and for about the next 15 years for me. The only thing worth applying for to me are the archery NWR hunts in south texas. E-postcard used to be good too, but they reduced the number of opportunities of those hunts so they aren't worth it either.

Hunted on a place not to far from Matador, but about 15 miles or so to drive to. Young feller with us would regularly get up early and drive there to be on standby, in case of a no show. Probably got to hunt 85 percent of the time, and brought in some nice bucks, plus they don't count against your tags for the county. That was whitetail though, not mule deer.

So are we still a fan of cubed?

I get roasted every time I say I hate it.

After looking at that chart. No , we are not

But the part that's most aggravating to me is the part where residents get no preference.

I don't recall a pro cubed people here. I could support squared maybe to give some advantage to the long timers.

I played the devil's advocate on here about it, but admitted that I could see both sides. After seeing the numbers, the cubed system sucks

I'd bet the same congressman who removed public hunting from navigable waterways had something to do with it.

I think priority one is hammer out of staters. Give them 5% of the draw and charge them 500% more than they are.

As far as cubed goes - I think it's a bit TBD. As someone sitting with 15-20 preference points in several categories - and who waited 26 years to get drawn to hunt the chapparal - I can see the argument.

We might be in a bit of a transition period - for instance there are 400 people in gun deer either sex with 20 or more years in (3 with 38) - are those numbers going down quickly? I would think they are. However - I think you still end up waiting 15-20 years to get drawn in prime locations.
