I know past threads have spoken highly of the Tactacams. But, it looks like Moultrie is making an effort to up their cell cam game. Reviews online are decent.

Looking for feedback on the latest generation Moultrie and Tactacams, to include camera performance, subscription pricing thoughts, and their mobile apps.

Used Moultrie last year (ATT version). Had issue with signal strength. Switched to Tactacam this year with great success (Revel Pro 3.0). Love their app too. Got the High dollar one since it automatically pick the best cell service provider. Moultrie's Verison may have worked better, but I decided to move on. Tactacam cameras seem better built.

I use both... both good cameras. I prefer moultrie edge that will switch cell service to go with closest tower, whether thats att or verizon.

Moultrie edge are also super cheap and have lasted 2 seasons so far. Going on 3

Been running two Moultrie Edge for two years. No issues or complaints. Originally used lithium AAs in them and after those ran out after 8 or 9 months I did myself a favor and bought two of their rechargeable batteries. No issues with those, either.

The cameras are easy to pair with phones and the app is user friendly. I think I'm paying $10.80 a month per camera.

Spypoint sucks. Not worth it if they gave the cameras away.

We have 3-5 bars of ATT 5G at our place.

Seriously considering Spypoint because of price.

Just seems ridiculous to pay $140ish per camera and over $100/year per cam to connect with Moultrie or Tactacam.

We need 6 cams total. Right now spypoint has me convinced on price even with the reduced image quality. Something is better than nothing.

Convince me on Moultrie or Tactacam.

This is exactly why I asked.

My initial research yielded the impression that Moultrie had really stepped their game up in their new gen models.

In my experience, Spypoint is garbage.

Random connectivity issues that only resolve if you travel to the camera location and resolve it by powering down an turning back on.

Rainwater intrusion into the camera housing.

Spypoint provided a new camera since the crap one was under warranty. I immediately sold it.

I have a few moultries and tactacams. The Tactacam has a better sensor. The Moultrie does not pick up as much.

Again, I'd like to know if there's a major difference between the Moultrie Edge Gen 1 vs Gen 2 vs. Pro model.

For these cameras, can you open the app and get a live pic or video on demand? Sounds like that would be a fairly standard option but I wanted to check.

For Tactacam, you have to have an "Xtra" subscription above the base level monthly subscription to get on demand photos. It's currently $9.99 per month, but that one fee works across all of the cameras on your account.

I'm running Moultrie Edge cams for 2 seasons now and they've been great.

Pic and video quality is great. The Live Aim feature is great for getting a live view when setting the camera up. No more setting it up then seeing when I get home that it's pointed at the sky.

Also I really like the feature it has where you can set it to only take pictures of certain things (doe, buck, person, pig, turkey). No more 100s of pics a day of blowing trees.

Just a heads up the new Tactacam 3.0 will do that now. I think it with one SIM card it will decide best service between att, Verizon and one other carrier.
