As a Houstonian I always go look at new vehicles around Houston and then look for the exact vehicle near Dallas, they were always cheaper (3-5k) up there for some reason… Oklahoma was even cheaper … but now a days with internet pricing .. they usually won't budge too much and most dealerships are within $1000 to $2000 on the same cars

They scam customers with "required" add ons and place tracking devices in all the vehicles they sell and pass that cost onto the consumer. Oh, and don't disclose that leaving the tracking device in your vehicle and active.

Head over to the auto board for a detailed description

Yea Randy is a good Ag. He owns the place. He doesn't work for the Red Cross but mention you are an Ag he will offer a fair deal.

Something I have learned living in Tyler. Don't buy in Tyler. Just seems like everything in Tyler is more expensive, than surrounding areas.

Longview is cheaper or go to DFW.

I had a good experience with LoneStar in Houston last year.

That said, I'd just get on autotrader, find the vehicles you like, and see what kind of deals you can get through email before ever setting foot at a dealership.

Also, look at the 3.0L Duramax. Traded my wife's Yukon with the 5.3 gasser for the 3.0 Duramax in a Tahoe. 4wd with the RST package. Avg Mpg with the 5.3 was about 15. Avg Mpg on the Duramax is 24. But, the biggest thing is no worry about lifter failures

Has anyone dealt with Capitol in Austin? They seem to be the only ones close to use with a Traverse we want in stock. Also, I am hearing that cars aren't selling. Are they back to negotiating on price?

It has been a few years, but I bought my truck from El Dorado Chevrolet in McKinney. Worked with a guy named, Kevin Perry. Received his name from a recommendation. Great small town guy and his brother is a long-time college coach

I know a sales guy at the Chevy dealer in Tyler but never dealt with them.

Maverick in Marshall has a good reputation and I think the owner is an Aggie. My parents have bought a couple trucks from them.

Pippen in Carthage is very easy to work with. I just got an Acadia from them. I wouldnt go there, Maverick, or honestly any small dealer expecting rock bottom pricing. They don't have the huge volume to work with. But you'll get fair deals with no BS or add ons.

For me, it's also about buying local. I see where the money goes, who works in my community, sponsorships for kids and events. Plus if no one buys at their local shop, always chasing the absolute lowest price, the local dealer won't be there especially for warranty work. That's not an issue for Dallas or Houston but it is in all our rural towns.

I had work done in the shop there once but that's it. Good luck on the Traverse. Seems like the design is a winner. We'll see how the hold up with all the tech and new turbo 4. But we love our Acadia so far. We had the same issue finding one we want so we ordered one. I think they're moving fast but 24s might slow down since production of 25s starts this month. Gmc finally came out with an interest rate incentive.

Do not buy at Capital, they are one of the worst.

Thanks. I will certainly stay away. I used to like my local dealer. However, their service manager retired and they hired a new fat slob who tried to scam me on a set of tires. We agreed on a price over email and then he tried to charge me more when I came to pick the vehicle up.

When I confronted him about it, he cussed at me, told me that I was trying to "take advantage" of him and told me to never come back. Had to pull up the email before he adjusted the price. So, I will never go back to them.

This. Ended up buying my wife's car in Dallas. Went there, test drove it, and left it there to be detailed and have a couple of things fixed. They delivered it to my driveway in Tyler a week later. Super easy. About 5k less expensive.

I get trying to stay local...and I do so when I can...but 5k is 5k. It's not peanuts
