Going with a couple of friends to Rockport and staying at Copano Bay. We would like to not have to hire a guide and do it "on our own".

I've found maps that show where we should head to where the depth is shallow but it's hard to find where to actually wade in if we don't have a boat.

Anyone familiar enough with the area to point out where we can park and wade in for some good flats fishing? For example, looks like we should hit up Newcomb Point but how do we get there without wading 2+ miles from the bridge?

If you have kayaks there is always lighthouse lakes. Gets pretty hammered though. Still cool to Wade around

More of a winter spot, but this flat in Port Bay can hold some exceptional fish with "protected" water from multiple S wind directions…. Easy access wading without a boat as well if you don't have that option. Any questions, send me a DM

We were planning on not bring kayaks but now we think maybe we should? We have 3 people and trying to take only 1 SUV down so would be harder to bring kayaks.

Is that Pete's Bend just to the S/SE of the pin? We used to do well there.

Also behind the HEB campgrounds along that broken down shell island South and East of the Copano Bay bridge.

I don't know where I'd park 'n wade if I had to around Rockport anymore (boat now). Maybe out in Lamar at the Big Tree corner, wade as far north as I could. Newcomb hasn't been good for me lately.

But I'd drive down to Aransas Pass, take a left to Port Aransas. Look for Fin-and-Feather bait, should be a sign, place is on the right a mile or two from HEB. Right before that take a right on the trail and drive down to the end. Wade out onto Steadman's reef. Probably the only major bay fishing spot you can walk into. Sometimes I'll go do that instead of taking the boat when I wanna fish south.

Used to be a community park for Holiday Beach subdivision along the north side of Newcomb's Pocket that you could wade from. It might be for residents only but if you know someone who has a home in Holiday Beach you can say you're visiting them.

Yes, and if you got a rental house in there, you'd get access for sure. Wade/walk past the first point, fish to second point, closer to shore as you approach. There's a little slough mouth in there.

This is great information. Will be there the 10th through the 15th with the family. Plan on sneaking away early every morning and fishing while the wife and kids sleep in.

The kayak/community park in Holiday Beach on the north side of Newcomb is fenced off and requires an access card to enter (residents only, along with the pier now). If renting, renter might provide card for access.

Heading down to Rockport on Wednesday night. What are some good laidback seafood restaurants for a set of feral Irish twins to not upset anyone while me and the wife have some drinks before dinner? Preferably outside dining.
