Looking for info or contacts to set up a Pheasant Hunt in Oklahoma or Southwest Kansas area. We are big into dove and duck hunting, and want to try our lunch with Pheasant. Any info or leads would be greatly appreciated as this would be the first time any of our group has gone Pheasant hunting.

Birds are pen raised but you wouldn't know it by the way they fly off when you miss.

If you're looking for farm raised birds, there are plenty of places around. We hunt down in Columbus, Corsicana. Believe there's a place in Navasota as well.

SW Kansas has been in horrible drought conditions for years now. I think it would take a few really good precipitation years in a row for it to bounce back. Used to hunt Morton County and do really good on bobs, blues and roosters. Those were some of my most favorite hunts ever back when their bird numbers were great. Could absolutely wear out the greenheads up there when they have surface water as well.

Upland Inn in Kansas is a great place. The owner has a proprietary system where he raises the birds and then they become semi wild. They fly great. I've been twice and limited out every day of the trip.

Hunted at upland inn several times as well. They hatch their birds in an incubator and then put them in a device called a surogator that the birds grow up in out in the field. There is a one way door that they exit when the food and water is gone in the surogator. The birds spend all but the first day or two of life in the outdoors. They behave like wild birds. Always had a good time.

Not sure what "kind" of hunt you're looking for. But if it's wild birds in wild places, those two ain't it. As mentioned dought and habitat are huge factors. Those two places struggle with both right now.

If you have some draw to that area and raised birds are OK. There are options.

No recommendations for lodges in that area. Sounds like a few have been mentioned

Also hunted w Dave at Lazy J multiple times. Got our group of Aggie buddies go and have a great time. Birds fly good. It's not S Dakota but worth the trip.

On SoDak, they actually have team competitions. Essentially, 4 man teams each get 3 shells, highest bird total wins.

Spoiler alert, more than one teammate must hit 2 birds with one shell to sniff placing.

If I'm you, I'd save another year and go to South Dakota for a once in a lifetime experience.

We get a few birds each year here in Moore CO Texas, but I've never seen anything like South Dakota in kansas or Oklahoma.

We used to have good numbers in the northern panhandle until the drought of 2011 - 2013. The numbers have never recovered from that. I don't even try around here anymore.

I've had some great hunts at the Upland Inn, and in Sublette.

Go to South Dakota. We hunt with the Korkow family every year. Best 3 or 4 days of the year.

I've been on two trips to Thunderstik Lodge in Chamberlain South Dakota.

Both trips were in February. It was snowing and COLD. Has a great time - all of us got limits each day (3 day hunt). Flew into Souix Falls - the lodge picked us up at the airport and brought us to the lodge. More $$ than our trips to the Lazy J in Sublette. Would go again.

Been to Upland Inn for about six years. They do it right. You won't be disappointed.

We have been going to the same place for several years Mt. Vernon, SD. It's fantastic and rarely does it take past 3pm to get our limits. We skipped last year because we were getting 6 man limits in less than 2 hours of hunting. The lodge is first class and we bring our own stuff for breakfast before the hunt, and head into town for dinner(usually walleye). Guides are great and bring lunch for everybody. I'm not going to give the name of our place out because it's truly a gem we've found, but the area around Mt. Vernon has so many birds, they do an incredible job with the habitat around there. If we ever have anyone that drops out of our group and need some other guys, I'll make a post about it.

I have a nephew that has land in those localities.

We have been to Ringneck Ranch in Tipton, KS for the past 8 years. It is pen raised birds, but the trip is still a blast and for me it is more about the fellowship around the fire in the afternoon than the hunt. But, the birds still fly fast and the dogs are awesome to watch. And the food is terrific!It is a highlight for our group every year.
