How long do you want to ignore this user?
I hunt in West Texas and have been using SPYPOINT for the past few years. I am fed up with them. I constantly have connectivity problems and can't get pics through the app. I'm 6 hours away and can't go fix them promptly. They work for a week or two after a reboot and then crap out. I've had good customer service and had cameras replaced, but they sit at my house for weeks until I can get out the 6 hours one way. Been using the Flex the past two years.

Suggestions on a replacement?

While I don't have one, everyone I know with a cell camera is going towards tactacam. I haven't heard any bad reviews.

I run Cuddeback cell cameras exclusively because I can have one cell plan and run about 3-4 cameras in close proximity off of the same plan. Pretty good so far but every once in a while I have a connective issue, exclusively because of poor service, and have to reset.

If your service is really bad, not much you can do… you can, however, rig up an aftermarket antenna for extra service that may help.

Year 6 with Tactacam & going strong. WiseEye sent us 3 to try this year so will be reporting back on those in a few months. So far, very impressed with them.

I put out a Spypoint this year, but the pictures are not good unless sun is directly overhead or pitch black with a close subject for the IR flash. I guess you get what you pay for. I'd like a higher quality camera as well.

I run Tacti Cam and support is great although rarely needed. I had one that went swimming for maybe a few days and can't get to work now. Going to send it in to see how any warranty works because the waterproof part failed. Maybe due to having supposedly waterproof external connections for solar power and antenna extension.

Bailed on SPYPOINT long ago, have a couple of coverts. Left.

We've slowly switched to moultrie and have been pretty impressed.

In addition to reliability, it provides a lot of data, like frequency of picture during different environmental conditions.

I run 4 Tactacam Gen2. Had them for a couple of years. Run the lithium cartridges and the solar panels. Never had an issue with them. Did have a cow knock one off a tree and it would not stay on once powered on. Customer support was great. Had me try a few different things and once none of it worked they sent me a UPS second day air prepaid label. Within 2 hours of it arriving back at their facility I had an email saying they were sending me a brand new camera free of charge. Their customer service is legit. I think we have 8 total at the lease know and you can share your account with the guys on the lease. Spend the money and get the lithium cartridge and the solar panel. Batteries are expensive and those items pay for themselves.

Tactacam with their solar panels is the way to go. We have had 5 running for the last 13 months with no issues.

Had 4 Stealth Cams that all stopped working within 6 months prior to having these.

My past experience with SpyPoint was disappointing.

Been using Moultrie for a couple years and haven't had any issues.

I've tried numerous brands of game cams and have had bad luck with nearly all of them. It's been a very frustrating journey to say the least. My expectations got so low that I would consider it a win if I got a camera to simply work as advertised for 2 seasons. When I ventured over to the cellular cams I went with Spypoint, and I was constantly monkeying with them - uploading new firmware, rebooting, changing batteries…they just wouldn't run reliably. Most of the guys on my lease have had the same issues with Spypoint. Based on the recommendations and good testimonials on here, I switched to Tacticam a year ago, and I've been very pleased with them so far. I've since recommended Tacticam to the guys on my lease and 2 of them bought Yacticams and have had good luck with them so far as well.

I want one that uses wifi and/or that I can plug a sim card into. I'm scared to jump in because some that say they have wifi wont connect to home wifi it just emits a signal so you can download them.

Also I'm not sure if they will work with my sim card.

I don't think I follow your logic. I'm an old and my Moultrie cameras download photos as they are taken to my phone through the Moultrie App. Or my MacBook or the desktop at work.

No removable SIM cards or WiFi needed.

I want one that doesn't need cell signal and connects to my home wifi for my backyard that doesn't require a subscription.

I also would like one that would work by just plugging in my cellphone sim card, and not need a fancy subscription.

Sounds like Arlo or Blink WiFi home security cam with a booster on the back porch would work for you.

tried blink. they have a crappy range. But that doesn't solve the second one for in the woods.

I don't want a subscription to at&t and the trail cam company for their app.

Ah, okay, understood.

Sorry, I'm no help for that setup.

Have used Spypoint with varying degrees of success. My son and I typically have 8 of them going and always one or two of them have issues.

I am seriously considering going to Reolink cameras. They are security cameras but should be ok for what I want. I have two set up at my RV park and one on our house that is being built. We use the Reolink Go PT Ultra They work off 4G cellular with a $10 a month prepaid sim card. Has a solar panel and two of mine are in direct sunlight, one is in under some trees, and all stay at 100% charged. The PT stands for pan and tilt and I can do so using my phone if I want to change the view. 355 degrees pan, 140 degrees tilt.

Have a few ReoLink cameras - a few that are WIFI & some that use a SIM. Been very happy with them so far.

I've been using the Reconyx cell cams for a while and had great luck with him. Even in a low service area, never had any issues with transmission and pictures are clear day and night.

I used to be solidly in the bushnell camp.
Not anymore - past 3 plus year they fail miserably. They've been nice sending new ones back - but I'm done.

Spypoint disappointing. Have to tape in the batteries (bad connection otherwise). Lose cell sporadically with good signal. Detection iffy. Switched to tactacam. Annoying they require specific sd card and don't provide. I have two, one with solar lithium combo one batteries only. Batteries don't last (166 pictures in 2 1/2 weeks went dead) so factor in the cost of solar if you want to get your money's worth (solar stays 100% in partial shaded area). Not solid on tactacam but they are better.
