The water cooled are more substantial....and way more expensive. They are usually overkill for residential backup needs. What size do you really need?

you'd have to be in a pretty large home with a lot of draw to need a water-cooled unit...

My water cooled 48kw sounds like a jet engine. Nothing close to quiet.

Howdy, Rockport here. After Harvey and did nothing, but Beryl changed that. Went with the Cummins/Onan for local service and reputation. Air cooled 20 KW, not silent but not a jet engine, really not too bad on sound. Did not source a water cooled, but hoping that we do not need that kind of equipment or the hours it would have to run. So far so good, hope we never have to use it!!!

Previous owners put in a huge Generac

If I was buying today and I'd get the normal air cooled 22kw. Probably Generac because that's what everyone has, but Kohler makes a good product.

Give Elite Generator Supply a call they are family owned and operated and gave me a great deal on my 24KW air cooled. 346-448-9440

To me it's not worth the cost difference, but to each their own. I live in Beaumont and have experienced varying length power outages from hurricanes and pop up storms. I have a $1k portable generator that powers my two refrigerators and a window unit(or two). That's all I need for a week.
