Predators eat prey animals. Who could have seen coming?

Wildlife agencies are trying to capture and relocate the first pack of wolves that formed under Colorado's ambitious wolf reintroduction program after the animals repeatedly attacked livestock, marking an early stumble in the voter-driven initiative.
This was an interesting admission:

In other parts of the U.S. where wolves are well-established including in the Northern U.S. Rocky Mountains and around the Great Lakes the predators are routinely killed by wildlife officials in response to livestock attacks. Wolves are prolific breeders so removing some animals doesn't have population-wide effects.
Anyone in Colorado heard anything?

the joke about this whole deal is that they already had moving in and out of Colorado. they would have naturally replenished the state. but, that was not good enough for the ecofascists who are bound and determined to go around state biologists.

TRUST THE SCIENCE! unless that is wildlife scientists. See the BS mountain lion and bobcat hunting bans they are attempting to pass on the ballot.

Hear they're banning non-resident elk hunting.

I saw this story last night and laughed my ass off.

The other issue has been getting more wolves. The first pack came from an Indian tribe. The southern utes put pressure on the selling tribe to stop sending wolves for some issue the Ute's are having with the state. At this point, the state can't get more wolves because of Indian politics.

Two wolves were killed by ranchers (I think) and is they are relocating a couple that have an affinity for livestock. Two are dead and now we can't get more…. What a disaster! Who knew wolves wouldn't do so well in a heavily populated state!

Next on the agenda is a vote to ban mtn lion hunting. I have no idea why we are allowing the general population (mostly front range liberals) to vote on wildlife decisions…

If you eat cricket paste and vegetables, you won't need livestock.
I don't think you know me.

Yes

Yeah, it's a misleading article title. I thought they were ending OTC non-res tags for archery, but non-res can still draw tags. So, not banning or ending non-res hunting or even archery- just reserving the OTC archery tag for residents.

Gosh, I wish that was the case in 2016. I watched my whole until change dramatically from 2016-2023. It was CRAZY the number of people in the woods during OTC archery. I killed a few elk, helped a good number of friends kill elk, and had great encounters on most hunts the first couple of years. By 2022- I had stopped archery and muzzy hunting all together in my unit. Just too crowded, and it really impacted the animals.

They are matching every other state in the west. Colorado was the last place you could buy non-resident over the country archery tags.

It's not a clear cut issue but I think it's mostly to allow for easier management of a dwindling herd that will be the inevitable outcome with the addition of wolves. Colorado parks and wildlife knows they are going to have to reduce harvest to maintain herd numbers once the wolves populate fully. They are putting this in place to give themselves one more tool.

The end of OTC archery tags for non residents isn't even close to banning non resident hunting, dude.

You posted incorrect info, followed it up with an article showing you were not correct, and I didn't read the whole thread before replying.

How may I cater to your feelings more effectively while correcting you in the future?

Would you prefer I ended my last reply with "muchacho"?

The inclusion of "dude" at the end of the sentence makes all the difference.
Thank goodness you didn't call him "pal" or "buddy". Them's fightin' words.

I get it though. I get p*ssed off sometimes about what people I don't know say online.
You can choose to be bothered by it or not. I don't always choose correctly.

Yeah, I didn't realize I was the 3rd or 4th person to correct him when I posted. I live in CO and pay pretty close attention to the season structure and reg changes, and used to hunt in the wolf release area pretty often. Was coming off a couple hours of meetings and got annoyed to see someone saying things that are objectively false.

This thread…

I don't know if we are supposed to pile on Bird Poo, or NRH, or both, at this point.

I thought we were supposed to be just hating the wolves…

The answer is always hating on Denver and Boulder voters.

Liberals screw up everything g they touch .. the wolves are just another example .. they really don't understand reality about how life and animals work.. wolves were driven out of populated area years ago so people like liberals could eat protein daily .. now they want to remove it
