Hey guys, looking to book a Sandhill Crane Hunt this year for me and a couple buddies. I have never hunted them before, but ate some bird last year, and it was delicious! So, now I want to shoot one myself and cook it up. Please let me know any recommendations, thank you!

We used Cadillac Creek Outfitters out of Amarillo.

Toby was a top notch dude.

These guys are great. They are friends of mine, and they will put you on some birds for sure. They claim the best sandhill crane hunt in the nation and I can't say whether it is or isn't the best in the country, but I know you will have fun and take some meat home.

Panhandle local here, I know or have hunted with several of the outfitters. I will say it's been a little dry around Plainview and Lubbock, so the Amarillo guys might be holding more birds this year. My go to suggestion is Sea to Sky if he has any availability left as him and his guides are good friends of mine. Orin lives here and has an excellent reputation among local farmers. I know CCO previously mentioned still has spots open, and an awesome new lodge. Tejas and crooked wing are also good dudes.
Whoever you book with, make sure it's someone who's established in the area. There's been lots of sketchy "outfitters" rolling in here from up north the last few years with a sack of dive bombs and an OnX subscription calling themselves outfitters. They'll take your money and stick you in a random field somewhere that you may or may not have permission to be on (I've heard nightmare stories). A lodge and full body decoys are pretty good indicators that they're legit.
Also, get a goose hunt in while you're here, it's more exciting than cranes imo (don't get me wrong I love blasting cranes). This post has me pumped for the season, hopefully we get some playas filled up between now and then to hold some birds, there's lots of grain crops in the ground this year!

Cadillac creek in Ama is good but pretty pricey.

i have been with Crooked Wing in Lubbock a lot in the past. they seem to have a lot of good land leased up.

i would vote for them.

My niece's husband runs Square Mile outfitters in the Lubbock area. We use him every year. He's a good guy and will put you on some crane. His name is Cameron.

We did a 12 man 2-day hunt for geese & cranes with Tejas Waterfowl out of Abernathy for 7 or 8 years in a row. Always a good time and almost always limited out. They got too pricey the last couple years so we dropped them. There a several in the area and they all have a lot of land leased. Thing is cranes are really popular and these guys get booked up early

Pintail Hunting Club in Garwood is exceptional! Great guides, great food, superb hunting. Owned by Aggies too.
