I know AA had nonstop flights. However, they have been fairly consistent at cancelling flights lately.
If I were you, I'd fly Alaskan to get to Alaska . They will get you to Alaska and they are familiar with flying fish and game.
I would consider AA for the nonstop flight back to Texas ( if that's your home base).

Halibut - Late May through early September is prime time. June and July are particularly good, with the weather being relatively mild.Salmon - For king salmon, June and July are ideal. Silver salmon are best from late July through September. As for locations, places like Homer, Seward, and Ketchikan are popular for both halibut and salmon fishing. They have a bunch of charters and can provide great experiences.Regarding bringing your catch home, you can indeed freeze it and bring it back in a carry-on ice chest, but you'll need to check with your airline for specific rules. Make sure to properly package and freeze your fish before travel, and be aware of any customs regulations if you're flying back into the U.S. from Alaska.

Can some of you gents post some fishing photos!

To answer your question about traveling with fish, I traveled 24 hours in plane with fish frozen in the wax boxes they provide they work.

Have fished Kodiak at Port Lions Lodge and Remote Raspberry Island Lodge. Both are good options. The folks that used to own Port Lions sold out a few years ago, but the current owner used to run a boat for the original owners. Raspberry Island has good fishing options. I would talk to both.

We just returned from Admiralty Island and fished out of Pybus Point. Pybus was good, but I would check the fishing regs that were in effect this year. They were very, very narrow.

I have been all over the state, and will probably look around Seward, Homer, or King Salmon on the next trip.

Unfortunately, the limits in AK are not established until April ish......and you will need to book your trip soon.

We have mostly flown AK Airlines, and they seem to have the best options. I always check my fish after processing and freezing. Anchorage and Seattle both have freezers if needed, or if you want to add a day or two at the end of the fishing trip, most Alaska airports have freezers that you can store boxes at while exploring.

Tons of pictures, lots of friendships, and usually about a hundred lbs of fish filets to bring home......buy a freezer when on sale. You should need it.

I'm sure much of this has been said but I'll add my tidbit.

I went with Penguin Charters out of Seward a couple of
times, both in late May. We did Halibut and King Salmon off shore. One year was great, the second year weather was bad and it was right on the edge of the captain even leaving the bay. It was still fun, and honestly almost more of an adventure than I wanted. But the first year was an absolute blast. Limits on huge halibut and a big king. Had them cleaned and prepped and flash frozen, waiting for me the next morning. Took the boxed fish to an onsite freezer at the airport, and when I left I just checked the box like regular luggage. Had months worth of the best fish I've ever had.
