I'm looking to potentially upgrade my .308 and ran across this company online. I don't know anything about them but it appears they're located in B/CS so I'm looking to see if anyone has any feedback on their rifles.

Derrick used to post on here and makes some incredible rifles. I talked to him about building me a custom one but never pulled the trigger. I don't think you can wrong reaching out to him.

Cow Doc is also another guy to talk to as mentioned above. No personal experience with him but based on his posts and knowledge, I wouldn't hesitate reaching out to him either. Just know that he shoots with the wrong hand…

TX-COWDOC is building me a 7 PRC right now and the process has been awesome. Price point is substantially better than Horizon, Exile, Etc for the custom route. Happily refer you to him

Both are good options who make quality rifles. If I was buying, I would go with TxCowdoc for the sole reason that he turns out a handful of rifles a year through old school manual processes. A rifle from him is something special. Anyone who can afford to write the check can biy a rifle from Horizon.

Cowdoc is a classmate of mine. I can vouch for him personally. I'll have him build me a rifle someday if I can stop buying fly rods, reels, and skiffs! Go w a southpaw precision build.

Ditto on Horizon. Derrick (founder) and Trouper (the GM) are former TAMU students of mine from 20 years ago. Their manufacturing is all in Bryan (I think they moved everything here including the actions from Shiner).

Big outfit now and make everything (including the stocks, actions). Stiller Wombat actions are slick. They now use Proof barrels.

Derrick pioneered the 22 Creedmoor (below). I walked in to order a 7PRC and ended up adding a 22 CM to my collection.

They are crazy perfectionists and way into getting amazing precision. OCD with QC.

Horizon will do a good job. Cowdoc was mentioned. Also Alamo Precision in Fort Worth or DI Precision in Brenham.

Don't bother emailing Alamo if you want to place an order. I sent them an email on June 8 with my desired order (to their new domain sales email address) and still haven't heard back. I'll reach out to CowDoc Monday.
